The brake line on one of my cars has corroded to the point where it sprays out brake fluid upon braking...

It the section of the pipe that runs along the rear beam. I would like it sorting as cheaply as possible as car will be sold on.

Can it be bodged? Gaffer tape may not cut the mustard.

Can I cut out the bad section and somehow bodge it that way? Or does it need a proper job doing.

Thanks

With brakes, always get it done properly. Especially if you are selling it after. Wouldn't be able to sell it with bodged brakes if it was me..

It wouldn't take a decent garage long to cut and flair some pipe to fit properly and safely. You'll need an old skool garage though, new ones will just try and sell you the whole brake line system I expect.

That was one of my thoughts Phil, I'm in Cheshire.

Does it go all the way through from front to back? Or a patching thing?

Was it a big job? Cheers

As said old school garage should be able to bend and fit copper pipe to fit. Or, like modern plumbing you could see if flexible pipe (like your bike brake lines) would work out cheaper for a quick fix (I'm not sure on the couplings required 'tween old and new though).

Any garage worth their salt will be able to cut out the old knackered section and replace the section that's fucked - most brake line kits come with joiners, they can therefore add a section into the middle.

Don't head for ATS etc, look for a small garage that's been going for years, "Phil down the road" type thing.
