 |
|
There is a rubber seal around the joining edge of my gearbox.
Does anybody know what this seal is, and if it should even be present?
I have not seen it on other CG's
I was about to take the cover off to clean it, but whatever that seal is, if required I dont have more so im hesitant to take it off now.
Im just taking some pictures now then ill sign up for a photobucket account. ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.

it looks like a one peice genny cover/sprocket drive cover casting. On the older honda designs, the genny cover was seperate with an oil seal. The sprocket cover did'nt need one.Because its a chinese clone the one peice cover could be a pain .......hence silicon seal ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. I d use a sliver of silicon to prevent rain and moisture getting in the genny cover.especially if an old cg points model.the bolt in the earlier piccy is to help clamp in the. Barrell liner. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Thanks again for all the help.
To avoid creating another thread, I took the cover off, but and it seems to have cleared up some stuff, I can see the gasket in this case is a shitty, soggy piece of green cardboard, with a bit missing, hence the silicone sealant, which I have purchased.
I'm assuming its to keep those electrical cables dry, whatever they're for...
This is after I brake cleanered the shit out of all inside the sprocket housing to remove the black stuff, but the sprocket nut thing in the centre of the 2 silver bolts appeared like it may have had some kind of lubricant/grease underneath all the dirt.
Is this supposed to be there or was it just gunk and it is a dry component?

that is the sprocket and genny cover side. No it doesn't need a gasket although Honda made one anyway to purchase.
Front sprocket doesn't need any grease, its all oiled when you oil the chain. ____________________ Honda H100S2 Rebuild - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=253852 |
