PostPosted: 14:48 - 19 May 2013    Post subject: YBR 125 (2006) Wiring Question? Reply with quote

Hi all, new to this two wheels and an engine malarky so decided to buy a stolen/recovered YBR 125 and get it back on the road then do my CBT but have to admit the wiring situation has me currently stumped...

Under the side panel there are two wires and a 9 pin plug hanging loose. I believe one of the wires (red) should be connected to a spade connector which itself plugs into a fuse holder coming off the battery's positive terminal.

The other loose wire (brown) is coming from the front of the bike but cannot spot any corresponding point it might have come from, any suggestions?

Suppose I really need to find my multi-meter and try and trace it through.

Also there are two cables going to a 9 pin (3x3) plug which is hanging loose. Any ideas what this should have been plugged into? Sadly there is nothing obvious to my eyes.

Apologies for my neophyte struggles but thought buying and repairing a non-runner as my first motorbike would be both fun and a good introduction to what makes them tick!

Cheers.

I think the 9 pin plug connects to the CDI, not 100% sure.

The red one coming from the fuse normally goes to the starter solenoid. That's your main live feed.

The brown one could be almost anything, as could the 9 pin (lights, bar controls, ignition...). I'd connect up the red one, and see what doesn't work. And yes, you really do need a multimeter.

But I don't see any 9-pin connectors.

The ignition is normally a 9 pin, doesn't always mean there are 9 wires though Very Happy

Thanks for the advice/replies.

Here's a photo of the electrics in question:

Not the clearest photo but hopefully you can spot the loose red (which I believe should be attached to a spade connector which is then plugged into the point just below the blue fuse).

The loose brown (top, middle) goes to the front of the bike so either I need to find the damned multimeter (God, my shed is a mess!) or as Efes123 suggests connect what I can up and see what doesn't work.

The white 9 pin plug (bottom right of photo, 8 pins actually connected) is still bit of a mystery. As it goes to the rear lights could it possibly be for some form of relay unit?

Also wary of connecting my aftermarket ebay ignition after reading some comments from people who have had to rewire after blowing their fuses (another reason to find the multimeter).

Cheers all.

I'd pop the red one into the blue connector. Tose are supposed to connect two wires into one, so if there's only one running through it, then it probably goes in there. Is there a slight cut in the plastic?
