Hi,

I was trying to service my sym and open the calliper to clean it etc.
Because I did use Allen key to open the bolt i did damage the bolt head then went to buy the socket allens which did open one of the bolts and not the other
So I am left with drilling it out unless someone else has other suggestion

So then two questions which all answers are highly appreciated are

1. Any suggestion on how to drill it?
2. Considering my bike is sym and not as popular and available in the market, would I be able to get the bolts only or have to buy the whole calliper ?

also on the other side of caliper there is another bolt which not sure what it does but also managed to damage that so may have to buy that as well. i do not need to drill it out as can use pair of pliers to pull it out

That's not a bolt it's a pin. If you can't get the other one out you'll have to drill it but you'd better buy a replacement first because it's not a standard item, you can't just fit any old bolt as a replacement.

Just warm the area around the head with a plumber's torch - no need to get it piping hot just warm it up to about 60-70 degrees and the bolt should come undone.

so let me guess the two pins one of which has a worn head is to keep the pads in place but the other pin on the other side of the caliper is for pads to hang on it or something ? does that need to be taken off ?

i am thinking of seperating the caliper and then use the home gas to warm it up or hot water maybe . wd40 etc didn't work

i am struggling to get hold of the part. looking to see if cg honda will fit in,

btw how did you fix the images ?

Looking at how the one you have in your hand is dried out on the end, not on the thread, I would heat up the casting on that side rather than the threaded side, or do both.

That is the same brake unit that I have on my Poineer XF200. These pins can be troublesome.

If you do manage to remove it successfully, it would be worth replacing the pins with Stainless Steel ones which you can get on ebay, or yo can buy the whole unit:
