I've read some people converting the rear drum brake to a disc by using a XR250 (I think) hub, rim, calipers etc,

But this guy seems to be doing it another way, possibly using the old wheel.

Anyone care to suggest what he has actually done?

looks to me like hes milled out the hub of the friction surface, then fitted a blank with bolt holes in it that holds the disc, where all the internal brake gubbins would have been if it were drum.

how hes got the blank to stay I don't know, possibly pressed it in as an interferance fit?

He has used the CRF 250R rear wheel, and made mounts for the caliper on the swingarm.

The forks are CRF 250R too.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not sure that the whole of a CRF250 wheel has been used as there is one photo of a CRF230 wheel on a lathe and their definitely got the CRF230 hub in the end product.

Good suggestion. Can’t really think of any other way that they would do it other than press it in?

Anyway it is beyond me, looks like I’ll be sticking to a rear drum brake for the foreseeable future!

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, but I haven't got a clue what "sweated it in and used a key way" means?
