Anyone know any good tips I can use/do to lower my insurance at 17? I have been riding a 50 on L plates since June 2012 but my bike was stolen December so I won't have one years no claims until December coming is it worth waiting until then? My cheapest quote on a WR125x
Yamaha was £2,500 ____________________ Current Bike : Honda CBF 125 Old bikes: Derbi Senda Xrace/ Derbi Senda Xtreme. |

There are no good 125s, because they're all so easy to nick and tend to be ridden by crash merchants - not you, other 17 year olds
Think more like a Honda CG or Yamaha YBR though. Maybe even a Suzuki Van Van or Honda Varadero, they might be slightly more likely to be ridden by Careful Now types.
But really, you've going to have to just hit up the comparison sites and try out different bikes until you get a sweet spot.
Presumably from your theft experience you know that it's far better to not have a bike stolen in the first place than have to claim on it and get raped on excess and premium hikes?
My policy is to buy bikes that I can afford to lose. There's no way I'd claim on anything worth less than £1K, and that's taking into account that I'm a geezer with low premiums. At your age, its barely worth claiming on anything. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

oh yes don't get me wrong I liked it, but to a 17 year old a bike is a status symbol. its a workhorse and cheap for spares or bash it. You cant argue with them. |

When I had my ybr people came up to me so often to tell me what a great bike I had it got boring, one auld Irish fella even said "ahh tell me nouw, is dat a 250 or a 500 yer have dere?"
No fucker complements my Fazer
Anyhow only one way to reduce insurance costs, do what I did, lose your hair, grow a big grey beard and try not to crash too often while your doing it. Sorry but that's life. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,
