L plates on the front?

Ok as im redoing my cbt after a few years on Saturday,I have a question. Is it really that necessary to display L plates front and back? I only ever had one on the rear before and there was no problems even when I was pulled over? can anyone shed any light? is it a fine or points offence?

L plates should be displayed both frount and rear of the vehicle in the correct size,

if you display just the rear at full size most police wont bat an eyelid but!!!

the offence is driving otherwise in accordance with your licence and as snorty says

I kept a l plate under my seat on my speedfight for a few months, got pulled twice and the whole it fell off thing on way home worked both times, <16 year old> some bikes just look stupid with l plates <16 year old>

I have some nice LC20's on my provisional for this exact thing.

I kept an L plate under my seat, and according to the police officer, It was my responsibility to ensure that the L plate was in good enough shape to remain on the front of the bike, if it wasn't sticking properly or it had snapped (if using a bolt on plastic L plate) then I should have walked to a shop and bought a replacement.

3 points £60 fine.

I was done again a few years later because my L plate on my front mud guard was "to dirty".

I hope you come across that copper who wants to make his quota, cause I don't want to be the only fecker with LC20's on his provisional anymore.

3 points sounds like nothing but remember that if you do your full test you will only need 3 more to lose your licence. Easily done when you first get a big bike.

I wrote a bike off a while ago with my mate on the back when i was on a CBT due to a dickhead from leeds pulling out on me on purpose..

I was going to get 3 points for each L plate missing and another 3 for my mate on the back.. luckily i have my way with police and he let me off with just 3 points.. and hefty insurance premiums ever since lol
