My lad is a Mechanic and as part of his training did a munber of months in a tyre centre.
Always says this stuff might be great to use as a quick repair or preventative, but when it comes to replacing the tyre the mess on inside of the rim is terrible and unless the wheel is ballanced after application they can (not always) cause such a speed dependent wobble it becomes unridable.
That said, if you apply the gunk, get your wheels ballanced and dont mind not making any friends at Kwik Fit, then cool |

Tyre fitters only get splattered with the stuff if they are lazy turds and put the tyre it in the bead breaker before deflating it. Then they get sealant all over their legs.
It's normally coating the inside surface of the tyre carcasse and nowhere else.
Happened to my tyre fitter guy with a tyre I forgot I'd put sealant in. I appologised but he said it was his own fault for being lazy and not deflating the tyre first.
There is absolutely no reason a patch wouldn't stick if they clean and degrease the area being patched first. The adhesive isn't a glue that sticks the patch on top of the tyre, it's a vulcanising solution that dissolves the surface of the tyre and the patch so they bond together.
TL;DR Tyre fitters will tell you not to use it because they are in the business of selling tyres. If people don't get punctures, they make less money. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I used to work at a major UK exhibition venue. A few of of the yearly events were related to major vehicles, all with very big wheels indeed (mostly trucks and their trailers). One company were advertising their sealant stuff. They had a massive truck tyre on an axle with massive nails in it all over, and they'd demonstrate by hammering in a very thick screwdriver and then pulling it out again. The tyre was always fully inflated. The stuff definitely works |

Your lad needs more time in the tyre bay.
It doesn't affect balance as it is a moving liquid. Its water based so easy to clean away from the site of a puncture.
On the other hand it doesn't seal small punctures as I've just discovered. |
From the horse's mouth:
"Will Puncturesafe seal large punctures
NO. Puncturesafe seals punctures measured by the size of the object causing the puncture, not the actual size of the puncture itself, regardless of how small a puncture may be, if the object has extensively damaged the tyre's integrity, the puncture will continue to bleed air along with an amount of the Puncturesafe product. This is a specific safety factor designed within the Puncturesafe formula. Grades A & B (High speed grade for cars, bikes, etc.) will seal punctures up to and including 6mm diameter, and Grades C & D suitable for the heavy duty plant and industrial market will seal up to and including 9mm diameter." ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

But they are wrong. Pulled a tiny screw out of the tyre and it simply won't seal it as it can't get in the hole, first time its failed on me.
There is no carcass damage. i will be plugging the tyre tomorrow. |
From Ultraseal (same spunk different knob)
https://www.ultraseal.com/pages/troubleshooting.html
"Tire Unable to Hold Air Pressure
Only Air Escaping
This is a indication that there is an insufficient amount of Ultraseal in the tire, or the tire may have internal damage. Re-enter the wound with a pointed object (ice pick) and move it back and forth. As it is extracted, Ultraseal will be forced out through the wound. If no Ultraseal is visible, there is not enough sealant in the tire to provide a coating and seal the puncture. Either and insufficient amount of Ultraseal was initially installed or the tire has received numerous punctures or a dangerous puncture that has depleted the Ultraseal in the tire." ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
