It's just another type of bike. It has it's own unique characteristics, such has instant torque and bombing along with almost no noise...that would be weird the first few times.
But there's something about combustion. Living creatures died millions of years ago, thousands of people spent billions and worked for years to extract the sludge, only to transport it 1/2 round the world, pass it through an enormous chemistry set, transport it round the country, just so I can put it in my tank and cause it to explode 2,000 times a minute.
That being said, it's a finite resource that is in pretty much everything. So setting fire to it is perhaps not the most sensible thing.
Good fun though And comparatively economical. |

Not claiming any specialist knowledge here but surely bikes lend themselves to electric power far more than cars do. Bikes are very efficient in the weight they carry.
I think an electric commuter bike is a very real possibility in the near future. I read something somewhere recently that there was a breakthrough in battery technology.
Maybe the future C90 will be an E90?
Maybe we should patent it? ____________________ CB125 (seized it), GS125 (passed test on it) , KLR 250 (Stolen) , RD 350 YPVS (Insurance forced sale) , GPX250 (Girlfriend forced sale) , 20 year gap, ER6f. |

Not quite the same and similarly on Deucalion's hydrogen...
The electric motor is likely quite a lot lighter than the ICE - and should be a fair bit simpler, though as the power goes up, as with ICEs, you're going to need cooling etc, which can add to complexity and weight.
A 100kg battery pack will get you around once, but doesn't lose anything - it just needs electricity adding.
Unfortunately there's no way to do that quickly with current technology. In the case of something big-budget like F1, I could see them having very fast battery changeover machines that could do it in a similar time to fuelling a car.
Hydrogen IS electric, it's just a different battery technology, however everything else is the same.
The benefit of course is that you can very quickly fill up the battery.
A good example of where electric seems to work ok is hire go karts - sure they're heavy (ie you can buy a complete road registered car of a similar weight!), but that's not a massive issue. Instead of swapping batteries they just make sure some karts are always on charge while others are out being driven - presumably all get filled up over night.
I think electric will be the main stream future, but I can see technology to make fuel 'cleanly' to power these ICEs being developed too. |

140 mile range wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't take 2 hours to recharge the battery. That'd be OK for commuting, but not for longer trips.
Hydrogen has greater potential to be a full replacement for petrol, as you can fill up your tank in the same way. I think * the hydrogen can be manufactured quite easily and I think * I read something about a new way of storing hydrogen that would be safer than, say, the hindenburg. However, the fuel cells require some rare elements, which are expensive, so it's difficult to bring the cost down, or make them in any significant quantities. Yet.

140 mile range is a nice weekend jaunt for me, not up to munch miles at the weekends.
I like it, but yeah, double the range or triple it.. |
