As im sticking with this bike for a while, I've decided to do it up a bit.

Took off the 'orrible front fairing and replaced with a round lamp.
Looks good so far, Could probably do with shortening the arms.

https://s4.postimg.org/x20pehpy5/DSCF4296.jpg

Then, my dad came up with this speedo, He got it in a box of bits for a Husky a few years ago, So He's going to have a bash at wiring up all the compatible features tonight.

https://s15.postimg.org/srnzh5y2j/DSCF4293.jpg

Should be fun.

Best of all, I won these on ebay a few days ago! Twisted Evil
Bought the wheel, discs and fender too.

'98 R1

Even more, Will be getting a thunderace rear wheel soon, So i can put a 180 on the back.

Cheers,
Tom

Crying or Very sad Poor Fazer, it's like you're trying to make it into a bandit... get the fairing back on, it misses it, I would say I can see it's sad face, but you took its face off Crying or Very sad

Was the fairing on your one particularly bad/different to normal for some reason? Before pics? I. Just. Don't. Get. It.

Nothing particularly wrong with the fairing. It didn't have to come off, just never liked the look, and those bloody tiny lights, Even with the second one hooked up. They are terrible.

I would have put the face-lift foxeye fairing on, if i could find all the bits at a good price. Doing this is cheaper and im my eyes, and looks a lot better.

Looks so so horrible without the fairing, a friend of mine has an infaired fazer, just looks wrong and badly done, the headlight is too far out, the wrong height and the speedo housing just looks like it's missing a piece.

Looks like i'm getting kicked from all sides here Laughing

The headlight is too high... It is temporary, until i swap the forks.
The bracket for the speedo, In the pic, it is just placed on. Can't mount/modify the bracket until i get the new forks and yokes.
And i did say that it is sticking too far out and the brackets need trimming.

I like it, Mk 1 Fazers look natural without the fairing to me, definitely think it would be better with shortened headlight bracket arms.

Reminds me a bit of this, https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=242490 if you were looking for ideas.

Cheers, For now, the brackets will stay like that. I have lowered the whole light though.

CHR15 put a square headlight on his fazer and that looked good.

Will consider that too.. When it has new forks, this headlight, Well the brackets wont fit, So i might experiment with a quare one, or just get the right brackets for this.

Has CHR15 ever done something to a bike that didn't look good? Razz

Is that a bandit with a fazer back end? Or are you just fucking it up for fun? I'm sure I read your doing it up but all I'm seeing is you sticking crap off ebay/other bikes onto it?

Might sound harsh but its a genuine question. Laughing

Nope, i'm fucking it up for fun.. and that is a serious answer Thumbs Up

I like to mess with stuff, besides. I don't think it looks too bad.

EDIT: In actuality, The headlight that is on is a nasty POS that i had lying around, when i fit the USD forks, I will actually buying a Bandit Lamp.. Unless a square one looks good. Mr. GreenThumbs Up

Do yourself a favour, lower that headlight at least if you aren't going to source new brackets.

Get some like mine, black ones off ebay, measure your forks though (width of them , mine are like 47mm I think)

Then add a renthal barbad and other bits and pieces. I'd prolly spray the bars black too.

Use the surplus metal from the light bracket to extend the speedo brackets under the clamp bottom bolts. Laughing To mount my speedo I had a bracket with a 90 deg bend in the top, and a hole at the bottom, I bolted it to the actual bolt on the headlight bracket next to the fork.

Simples. Smile Does that speedo have everything? Mine lacks a rev counter but meh. Not too fussed.

I've decided not to use the Husky speedo, It lacks a neutral light, petrol light, The speedo is calibrated for a 21 inch wheel and the Rpm is set for a single cylinder.

So, i've bought a Koso xr-srn Digital speedo. Its a bit vulgar with the blue backight but it does the job.

I sooo nearly rated that cool until I spotted the TAG sticker. Laughing

Anyway back on topic, Fazer is a very good bike slowly getting ruined here.

FTFY Razz Laughing

I don't understand why you would buy a bike that you think the fairing on is "'orrible". Why not just buy a bike you like the look of it the first place and not ruin a perfectly good Fazer? Bikes that have fairing aren't made to look good with their fairing off and IMHO they never do...

Surely a high percentage of why someone chooses a certain bike is the way it looks.... so surely it would make more sense to just buy a bike you like the look of? (I'm guessing Bandit might be a good choice for you sir Very Happy )

If i wanted a bandit, I would have gotten a bandit. I like the look of these with Single lights.

Iv'e just fitted shorter dog-bones to add to the appearance. They were only -25mm so they havent done much, Can feel it on the bike though.

https://s15.postimg.org/8e549xvbf/DSCF4305.jpg

And yes, Before anybody wants to point out that the light is too far in front. Once i have fit the clocks, then i will adjust it.
