 |
|
I was watching a news programme tonight which I found quite frightening.
It seems that the great unwashed masses have taken to speed cameras according to the programme. They rolled out people who said they were good for villages, slowed people down reduced the risk of dangerous speeders and rolled out a few more supporters of the yellow box.
I'm getting worried. Is it just the media manipulating stories or are people becoming so de sensitized to cameras that they are accepting them. Speeders getting to be the same scum as drink drivers in the view of the majority?
The shit that was spouting forth was right out of the mothers against speeders manual.
The worrying thing, is taken in a certain context that any good laywer could put forward, it all sounds so logical.
The only good thing was the reporter said that calling them safety cameras was wrong, they are speed cameras as that's all they take, your speed. They don't note if you are drunk, stoned, reading your Ipad or getting a BJ off your missus. (they didn't say the last one on telly, that was mine!)
I hate this nanny state. Do this, do that. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Where did you see this? By which I mean, was it propaganda by champaign socialist London pedalistas, or was it marketeers trolling for eyeballs for their sponsors?

All these people saying it's great for their village having a camera to slow down the speeders then get in their merc and do 50 through the 30 limit of the next village and cruise down the outside lane of the motorway.

I'd be quite happy to have a speed camera or two in the village. People go through at a rediculous speed.
It's the ones deliberately placed on good overtaking places on NSL roads or at the exact point of entry into a slower speed limit I object to.
If they make people stick to a 30 limit in a genuinely built-up area, I can't object. If they are positioned to generate the maximum amount of revenue, I'm less impressed. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

One day they'll run out speed limits to reduce, and have a speed camera every 50 meters, and we'll still have accidents because we'll just have a load of slow-yet-oblivious drivers. Just because you're driving within the speed limit, does not make you safe.
I did 155mph over the mountain section of the TT course two weeks ago and I didn't spontaneously explode Not sure of any kitteh death toll though |

You didn't break the speed limit, so therefore safe. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
