Honda CG125 Choke problem "HELP!!"

I have recently done my CBT and got an old CG125, which runs lovely but has a weird problem.
when it gets up to a good speed, the choke comes on by itself!
obviously this can lead to a loss of power, which isnt nice when trying to overtake a wagon!

Has anyone had this problem before?
Please help!!

to turn choke on push the lever up, when the lever is down its off

so is the lever jumping up?

old cb100n 's had a similar propblem.My favourite is an elastic band,its because of vibration.

My problem is the bike is 21 years old, and needs some choke in the morning, even in good weather so tying it down isnt really an option

I will have to check for this bearing and see if it needs replacing

Hi mate if you use a rubber band you can hold the choke up untill you don't need it

I fixed this problem by removing the single screw holding the choke lever and its metal plate. The metal plate has 3 holes cut into it for each position of the lever. I bent the plate slightly with two pliers, refitted it and I also made sure the screw was in tight.

If the lever is to worn this wont work but you could try putting some electrical or Teflon tape on the pivot for the choke lever to stiffen it up.

Anyone else totally dig that the bike is so damn old and so still bloody working, that the choke lever has literally worn out?

I agree!!

Plus the fact that it usually just takes just a spanner, screwdriver or gaffer tape to keep it going!!

Bent the plate, and put a washer on as well, this seems to have sorted the problem
