so I'm riding along some country roads and get stuck behind a hairdresser posing with a top down custom paint pink/purple mx5.

And it's only three or four bends then I get passed her, loads of space, no different to any other safe overtaking manoever.

But once I'm past her, I'm thinking about the next corner and she starts flashing, indicates to pull over, and did appear to slow down to pull over but I'm at the next corner now.

Anyway, there's nowhere to turn around safely for about a mile now. But I start thinking, it was a perfectly safe overtaking manoever, the worst that could have happened is maybe a stones flicked up or maybe a bit of chain oil or something. But if flashed and pulled over every car who flicked a stone up at my car when I'm driving I'd never get anywhere.

So I carry on.

Should I have stopped? Would you have stopped or turned around and gone back?

Any suggestions why she might have flashed and pulled over?

Eh no-one knows, what's the point in speculating.

With regards to whether you should have stopped? Well that comes down to the individual and in your case you chose not to, just as I wouldn't.

Hmmm - tough one. If I've understood my basic BCF training properly might it not have been because she wanted you to "punch her in the tits" and - subsequently - "do her up the Gary"?

As a die-hard convert to their superbness I'd normally take umbrage at the assumption that an MX5 is a hairdressers car but given the paint scheme I'll let it go

Many people see overtaking as aggressive and suicidal regardless of how safe it is so I wouldn't read too much into it. I had the audacity to overtake a car that was doing 45 in a 60 limit on a dead straight fen road with, therefore, about 20 miles visibility and was met with flashed lights and the finger from both of the two respectable looking middle aged women on board I particularly enjoy it when people coming the other way flash you but there is so much space they have to wait 10 seconds to do so

I find with anyone who flashes aggressively at you after an overtake, you need to indicate, gradually slow down, stop, calmly walk over to their window and politely ask them what's up with them that they feel the need to attract your attention. Most of them don't actually need any help at all and don't say anything else. Funny that.

Then you punch her in the tits, kick her wing mirror off and giggle away as you ride off into the sunset.

last week going down a national limit road someone coming the other way flashed me with their lights.

no idea why, no mobile camera to warn me about, my high beam wasn't on, everything fine, nothing hanging off my bike..

why they did it? no idea? and in the grand scheme of things.. who cares.. /shrug


she may have just been pulling over and knocked her stalk before she hit the indicator.. done that myself before, gone to indicate and accidentally hit full beam if i hit a bump or something
