Best android sat nav app?

I know, whats wrong with google maps I her you ask? Well, its too quiet. With everything turned up full, I can barley hear it on my Scala. I've looked on the google forums and apparently its a known bug since they removed the ability to turn the sat nav volume up and down specifically for the app. Irritatingly, one of the google devs was asked about this at a show and basically said "We don't care". So now I'm on the hunt for other sat nav app.

So, the requirements look like this:
Must be/have:
Free (I'm cheap)
Decent voice directions (Will be relying on voice only, phone will be in bag out of sight)
Must have 'Avoid motorway' option - Going on a tour in a week, don't want to spend a week on the motorway.
Individual volume (i.e. you can set the sat nav volume without changing the volume on everything else)

Would like:
Speed camera alerts
Pre-loaded maps, rather than download on the fly - handy for those times when you go wrong and aren't in a decent reception area.
The ability to add custom sounds for alerts

Any recommendations?

I've been using Navfree since my TomTom was stolen a few weeks ago and it's pretty much perfect. It's about a 300 meg download I think but well worth it since I'm too tight to pay for data usage and this is GPS only.

Can't swear it has all the features you want on it but it's worth a crack.

I have NavFree and a dodgey version of TomTom.

NavFree is just as good really, got me around the continent easy enough!

Sygic is by far the best nav app I've used,but it isn't free. Easily got around if you have a rooted phone though.

Other than that Navigation is more than good enough for me,don't even use voice,just look at the phone every now and then.

copilot gps lets you turn the voices up and down, i have it on 3/4 and its plenty loud enough plus there are loads of different voices to pick.

You can also plan your own routes which you cant do with navfree or google navigation.
It also has all the other stuff like poi's (petrol,pubs etc) avoid motorways, alternate routes, live trafic, speed camers...

NavFree works for me, and can use pre-downloaded hippyware maps, all legit.

Tom Tom, free on android used nav free but lost bit confidence in it with some routes it took me.

Sygic is the best Android sat nav.

TomTom is a shadow of the version of that was available on Nokia and other phones back in 2006.

Navfree is probably the best free sat nav, and is what I currently use.

You could just use a bluetooth headset, or adapter plugged into your head unit to increase the volume of Google Navigation.

Nowt wrong with Googlemaps...just download a different voice for text to speech and then you can adjust the speech volume.

Other free satnavs are 'ok'...but you cant beat the maps on google and the voice guidance is second to none.

Copilot is the fastest at recalculating routes if you go wrong
Also have a look at iGO Primo they are quite good
Don't forget Garmin XT mobile as well.

you can get them all free(albeit you may need to register on some website... like navitotal and gps underground)

i dont use nav on the bike but in car on my s2 i use one called waze

has a few interesting fetures such as posting where traffic is others also post so you can see etc

I used NavFree on a colleagues Galaxy Note recently when we were doing night road surbeys around the north of the Midlands.

Have to say it was excellent and didn't let us down once, so definitely recommended!

My main one is Waze as it includes traffic reports and speed cameras. If you use Navfree and Trapster, also free, together you get the speed camera alerts as well.
