After the Suzuki Bandit?

I do between 9,000-13,000 miles a year on two wheels; mostly pleasure riding with occasional bursts of commuting. I've had my Suzuki Bandit (650cc SA) for a year (and before that had a succession of triple-cylinder machines). The Bandit is a good tourer with some nice poke.

I just feel I'd like something with a little more grunt, and something that can cope with cruising at *cough* 70mph and make it seem like less hard work.

Obviously I need something well-mannered (like the Bandit). And I need to have something that isn't going to fight me every one of those thousands of miles a year (like the Bandit does not fight me). And something with some throat. And grunt, if I open up the throttle. But I can't see what the next logical step might be. Anyone have any suggestions?

Pussycat for some - tiger for others.

It's of a style the OP already enjoys riding and fulfills the 'more poke' criteria.

Only way to know is to go and try one out. Don't limit yourself to a single marque or style though, test-ride a few bikes.

I rode a 1250 bandit about a month after passing my test having never ridden bikes previous. Nothing to worry about!

They are super comfy, dont feel as heavy as they are, and the torque is lovely.

My personal choice having just had one would be an SV1000. pokey enough to play, smooth enough to cruise, handle well and imo look better than the 1250 bandit.

A mate had a slightly tuned B12 bandit, spent a fortune on it. Then he tried an Aprilia Falco and sold the bandit that week, 4 years on he still loves his 'Ape' Thumbs Up

Then again another mate feels exactly the same about his mk1 hyabusa.

Or try a Triumph triple? Daytona 955 / Speed triple 1050 / Sprint 1050.
