Hi all, after a bit of advice if anyones got some...

Basically had my rear caliper seize whilst riding and tried to run it off...

It didn't work and eventually I lost all drive. Now the caliper has cooled and the wheel runs free I have no drive. The bike feels like the gearbox isn't connected (complete noob to bikes so pleas excuse the terrible explanations).

The only thing that comes into my head is that maybe I've burnt the clutch out?

The bike is a Yamaha YZF r125 2010 and has 14k miles on the clock.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Have you tried adjusting the clutch yet?

I've tried adjusting the free play but can't find any bite at all.

It's almost as if the clutch it disengaged and open

Have you tried adjusting it from the actuating arm rather than the lever?

The procedure should be in your manual.

So you've tried basically to go forward with the rear wheel locking solid?

Your tiny little clutch will be fucked, and what's left of the friction material will be floating around in your transmission oil.

If you can't do it yourself, then get someone else to, and get your rear caliper stripped and rebuilt before it happens again.

Thumbs Up

When you say that "it didn't work", was the engine revving without making you go anywhere? Or did the revs die off until it stalled?

Can you hear/feel it engaging into gear?

If you get the rear wheel off the ground, does it turn at all when the engine is running? Viscous coupling should put something through to the rear wheel.

Yes the engine revved up until it stalled, it feels like the gears are engaging, but normally when stationary you can change gear without using the clutch. Im yet to get the rear wheel in the air, if the clutch has gone am i right in saying that if the bike is in second gear and i put some motion through the rear tyre by hand it should get some sort of response?

i had notice last week when i cleaned the chain and had the back end on a stand, that when i put it into 2nd with the clutch lever in there was movement/drive which indicates not a full disengagement am i correct?

Also it has spat out of 2nd gear into first a couple of times recently whilst doing around 25mph

That's normal with a wet clutch. The oil between the plates creates some drag and you get a little drive, enough to turn the wheel if it's off the ground.

If you can blag a stand and get the wheel up, I'd suggest that you see if you have any drive at all, and whether engaging the clutch has any effect.
