How the fudge do you get the bottom allen key bolt out ?
Ive tried the broom handle trick to stop it turning inside but it doesnt work! Sad

The broom handle works only if you're lucky as it only grips the top end of the damper tube you need a pointed length of bar that will reach down the inside of the tube and grip in the lower hole.
or you can buy the Suzuki tool for stupid money. I bought one donkeys years ago as it also fits GS, Bandits etc, it's 3/8th square drive and you stick a couple of feet of extensions on it to reach the hole bottom.

When putting it back together do I have to do an air gap test ?

It's always better to set the airgap than rely on a measurement of oil, that way you always make sure both legs are the same. Doesn't matter as much when the legs are fully stripped and dry but it is a quick accurate way of doing it if you use a syringe and can make a difference when you just change the oil.
