Hi there
I've just joined this forum and this is my first post.
I ride a bmw gs 1100 I ride all year round everyday apart from snow and ice. I have good kit all hien gerricke gortex or leather .and over the years I've always rode in full kit. But this year I made a decision to ride in just work boots jeans and a bike jacket the first few weeks I felt very vulnerable but now I feel ok.
I m 48 years old and have been riding since I was 16 .
I just wondered what you guys ride in.

Cheers rod

Rukka jacket and trousers, Racer High Racer gloves and a pair of tatty magnums for boots.

Also got some Hood jeans, but not really had a chance to wear them yet.

Welcome to BCF Rod.

Always gloves. The rest will depend on the weather and where I'm going.

Long hauls on motorways and A roads I tend to wear leathers. Local journeys... sometimes kevlar jeans and jacket.

Depends on what I am riding, if it is my Fazer 600 or my Deauville 650 then I wear winter gloves (year round), full textile gear & waterproof boots, if it is my husband then I wear nothing but a huge smile Wink

I am also 48 and have been riding since my teenage years, bikes, not my husband Laughing

I tend to find a bit of lingerie brings up my self esteem so I wear that but when it's a bit nippy out I tend to go for full on cocktail dress and fur scarf.

On a serious note, depends on what I'm doing, nipping into town a jacket and jeans, going out for a proper ride I'll wear full leathers.

Around the corner? Jeans and full sleeve shirt. Sometimes crack out a blazer. Gotta look sharp for the paramedics.

Across town? If it's not too warm I'll crack on an overcoat.

Across the country (i.e. above 40mph), leathers. Might get myself a textile suit eventually.

Always boots and gloves, though. I can deal with road rash and even a busted knee. Not much chance against losing a finger. In any case I find that it's easier to operate the machine - boots make it much easier to hold the bike while stationary.

Buffalo textile trousers and a bike jacket with bike boots

Gloves with knuckle protection.

If i'm nipping round the corner from work then gloves, jacket and boots but normal jeans.

Have some bike jeans for short non-motorway trips from home

Going to work depends on weather if dry work pants, textile jacket, gloves and boots, if wet textile pants. Short trips from home normal jeans with boots, jacket, gloves. Out for a blast full textiles boots, gloves.

My kit varies on ride duration and weather.
But I'll Always be in full motorbike gear.

Full face helmet Thumbs Up
Textile / leather jacket Thumbs Up
Textile / Kevlar trousers Thumbs Up
Buffalo gloves Thumbs Up
RST Boots Thumbs Up

All or nothing for me, I don't find any of my kit uncomfortable.
But without trying to justify myself, I wear it for my safety and I personally feel safer ( NOT invincible ) wearing it. I'd feel extremely vulnerable without it, likely to the extent of not enjoying the ride.

You've got the gear, so why not put it on?

Depends. If I'm out to have some fun on the bike, then two piece leathers, boots, gloves and of course, lid.

If I'm just travelling to work or the shops then it's as above, except I'll swap the leathers for textiles.

Both leathers and textiles have body armour too. Thumbs Up

For a full ride out it makes sense.

For popping to work? Often it'd be quicker to walk than to get changed both sides.

HJC FG15 (??) Lid with iridium visor (need to change it, I look a nob)
Joe Rocket two piece leathers
Richa hi vis waterproof over jacket if wet
TCX Sport touring boots
Weise Gloves

Nothing less.

I could do with some new gear more suited to my riding, I have power ranger-esque gear but I use my bike for everything and am not into hooning or dragging my knee round bends etc. Maybe some Kevlar Jeans for the nice weather and full textiles for the rest...
