That red thing is the lock to keep the wiring connector in it's plastic housing, the seal on it is to keep water out and not oil in so the sensor itself has failed.
How to disconnect it? You will figure it out but personally I would NOT change the connector  |

Yep unscrew sensor, screw in new sensor, plug in wire with old connector. No need to change that. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
