Changing an oil pressure sensor.

Had a whiff of burning oil.

Traced it back to the sensor, and I suspect the connector that fits into the sensor unit has failed and allows oil back out (I did check the tightness of the unit first, it was tight enough).


Ordered a new sensor and connector (£20).
Simple job but I have questions. How do I disconnect the wire and what is this red thing that I can slide out?

That red thing is the lock to keep the wiring connector in it's plastic housing, the seal on it is to keep water out and not oil in so the sensor itself has failed.

How to disconnect it? You will figure it out but personally I would NOT change the connector

Yep unscrew sensor, screw in new sensor, plug in wire with old connector. No need to change that.
