Shame, since 2011/2012 was actually a strong year, things were looking up. Come onnnn good summer. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Eh, it might level out again after the dust settles, but there's a big hump to get over.
Overnight, training schools will have lost almost all of the 17 and 18 year olds, and a fair number of the 21-23 year olds. That's at least 2 years, more like 4, before they can get back to a steady state. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Confusingly, on January 18th, "A2" referred to a 121-125cc bike capable of at least 100kph. No "A2" license class existed. On January 19th, "A2" referred to a 395cc+ bike making between 25-35kW, and also to a license class to ride a bike up to 35kW. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Dunno, the local outfits are all still going. Daytona Paul et al would have a handle on it. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Only one point of data, but the school I took my DAS course at in April was bloody busy.
As you've said, they've had to go out and buy a couple of 600's to do A licenses. Flipside to that, though, is that unlike the old rules, you can't just rock up and do your test on a 125 (unless you want a crappy 125-only license) - under the old rules, I might have been tempted to save money on a DAS course, just try on my 125, and if I failed, eh, try again, still cheaper than DAS. Sure, there's a 2 year restriction, but ... Under the new rules, you practically have to go through a school, even to get a restricted A2 license. I wonder if they'll be picking up business from that? ____________________ Bike history: YBR125 -> XJ600 |

Yep the days of doing it all yourself are over. I feel bad for the kids that are poor but want to ride something other than a 125 once they turn 19/20. |
