Check the excess. I'm gonna guess £400
The benefits of being female, over 40 and a years no claims maybe
My cheapest insurance so far has come in at £7.50 when I had the er5 (with cashback).
Think it's about £45 this year on the er6 (again including cashback, was in the £80's). This is with Bennetts, fully comp.
I've never had to make a claim, so all my experience is that all insurance companies are brilliant @ taking money. I change insurer every year. |

£250 excess. Is that about right? |
It's typical, but is that voluntary plus the compulsory that they might not have put in the large print?
I just went with Hastings Direct, £100 compulsory excess, and £0 voluntary. The difference between £0 and £500 voluntary was just a few £££, so I plumped for that.
All of which only helps if you're going to be in a position to need to make a theft / comprehensive claim though. Up to now, I've treated bikes as disposable, under-estimated the value and cranked the voluntary up to the max to chisel those few £££ in my direction. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yeah, they lost £7m of the £92m they conned. Pretty good strategy; you and me, we'd have done time. ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

I made a claim through Bennetts, well I got t-boned. The guy was insured through admiral, but did not disclose his convictions. After paying 2 years of raised premiums, I gave them a courtesy call to find out how the claim went, apparently I had a blameworthy. When I asked why, their reply was because they couldn't get the money from the other party because admiral dropped him after investigating the claim to find he didn't disclose.
I had to go through the financial ombudsman to reinstate my no claims, remove the accident from history, and a lot of phone calls to Bennetts to remind them that the ombudsman is just a call away if they don't give me back in full my premium difference (which doubled, for 2 x years).
Never had a problem with them til I had to make a claim.
Admiral were an utter arse also regarding P&S, but that's another story. ____________________ If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. |
