Does anyone know if there is a way of finding out when an ebay auction started, I've seen a bike that looks exactly like mine apart from the mudguard and apparent number plate.
(Might be getting paranoid but it's uncanny down to the tape around the indicator lenses)

Sorry, that's not yours, too many differences.
If you don't find it soon then you should tell your insurer about it, as they'll remain liable to make payments to 3rd parties if the thief stacks it.
I stress "should". What you could do is to just instruct them to terminate the policy as you no longer have the bike, which is 100% true, although not 100% of the truth.
And given that it'll be in a ditch, or canal, being parted out or flogged with fake plates, it's very unlikely that they'll ever be in a position to pay out. Also, if it does turn up and get recovered by the coppers, you'll need a certificate of insurance (and a huge sack of cash) to take it away from the pound.
So I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to tell them anything. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Unfortunately it just had the steering lock on, there was no way to attach a disk lock, didn't add an alarm (battery was crap even with a new one) and there was no where to chain it.
Next time I get a bike I'm going to remove the spark plug every time I leave it for over an hr. That may be over cautious but it seems acceptable now.
