Kin' 'ell Smiler it never rains but it pours for you.

Call the police, give them all the details. Dont tell your insurance as you are third party only.
Have a good drive round and see if you can see anything, it could be stashed away in an alley or bush etc.

Contacted the police soon as I came out of the cinema and found the bike they have all the details. My friend checked some streets locally but there are a hell of a lot of fields around the area. As well as a number of crappy tiny streets.

Police are going to check CCTV from the Morrison's car park that is right next door, however on the tarmac next to where I parked there is a tyre mark and a lot of white powder.

Well it was left to the car park next to morrisons whilst I was watching the worlds end, ironic title considering what's happened. An yeah they were surprisingly really nice to use whilst riding.

Does anyone know if there is a way of finding out when an ebay auction started, I've seen a bike that looks exactly like mine apart from the mudguard and apparent number plate.

(Might be getting paranoid but it's uncanny down to the tape around the indicator lenses)

144 miles away.

might be going crazy as it has a center stand as well and apparently V5 is with him. Damn I already hate this event.

I'm sorry to hear your bike has been stolen, any security on it?

Sorry, that's not yours, too many differences.

If you don't find it soon then you should tell your insurer about it, as they'll remain liable to make payments to 3rd parties if the thief stacks it.

I stress "should". What you could do is to just instruct them to terminate the policy as you no longer have the bike, which is 100% true, although not 100% of the truth.

And given that it'll be in a ditch, or canal, being parted out or flogged with fake plates, it's very unlikely that they'll ever be in a position to pay out. Also, if it does turn up and get recovered by the coppers, you'll need a certificate of insurance (and a huge sack of cash) to take it away from the pound.

So I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to tell them anything.

Police: "We've found your bike, but unfortunately it's in a bad way - looks like someone has been riding it very poorly indeed"

Smiler: "Oh, that's how I left it"

Hope they find it, that sucks :/ Gumtree is probably a good place to watch too.

Unfortunately it just had the steering lock on, there was no way to attach a disk lock, didn't add an alarm (battery was crap even with a new one) and there was no where to chain it.

Next time I get a bike I'm going to remove the spark plug every time I leave it for over an hr. That may be over cautious but it seems acceptable now.

Yeah I had a cyclone v2 on my old bike which I also used a disc lock whenever I went out, shame it had spoked wheels but doubt it would of really made that much of a difference if they really wanted it.

i agree with the much of a difference, all i need (your circumstances differentiate obviously) is 5 seconds of the alarm screaming (i sleep above my bike basicly) then i can do what i got to do, you just need to reevaluate your security next time round, make it as hard / loud as possible for these scum bags

Poor sod. Agreed, a cheap Cyclone alarm is better than nothing. A big arse chain is also desirable. Both deter scrotes, who are the most likely to have lifted it.

Hope you get the little bugger back in one piece.
