Go to my local bike shop to see how much to change my oil, filter and spark plugs as it was due. They quote £200 with parts. Parts alone = £55. Parts only it is.
Equipped with youtube, a PDF of my service manual, some tools and a mate we set off to do the unthinkable. 2 hours later and presto all done. Gave my mate a score so all together cost me £75!!
Result!!
Change coolant and brake pads next for a grand total of £45. |

Had something similar, dealer wanted over £200.
Got the oil, filter and all the tools for £50.
Took me a while (and four of us) due to the bloody oil filter not coming off! Next time it should be a lot quicker. ____________________ Snow rider wrote: I'm far to annoying to be near for long periods of time |

Home doing services also makes it more affordable servicing your bike more regularly. Mine gets an oil change every 1k, and filter change every 2k. For filters and oil its less than £20 on my bike for the decent stuff. Castrol Power 1, K&N oil filter & TNT air filters. Better than the stuff most dealers put in Hasn’t seen a dealer scince 2k, fast approaching my 16k service which is a biggy though!
Also, well done! First ones always the hardest! |

OP is your bike really complex or something? I thought home-service oil and spark plug changes was the norm for motorbiking. Did all mine - and more - within the first week of owning it! Learn as you go! |
