Ok guys,

Bit of advice here, I have been replacing the seals on my USD forks and after seating the bush, oil seal and retaining ring, I pushed the dust seal down. However, compress the fork and extend and the dust seal just stays in place on the fork stanchion.

Is it safe to use some kind of bonding agent with it? If so, any recommendations?

Or just go back to supplier with regards to the seal?

The dust seal should press in quite firmly. If its sticking to the stanchion when you bounce the forks and coming out of the recess I'd assume its either shit in the recess or the seal is the wrong size, which would be an utter cunt as you'd need to split it again Neutral

Me being me, bit of light fork oil to lube up the stanchion and some form of adhesive inside, but I wouldn't do that if you value you forks.

Speak with seller first I reckon...

Spring is there, you can feel it hook into the leg but doesn't stay.

I've not filled them with oil yet incase I need to split so nothing major to do so

If you've got the adjustable suspension, then you might find that you've got the wrong seals, as the stanchions are slightly wider than the standards, to the tune of a few thous.

I could get the extra welded up to 4 thou?

Alternatively, they're not SP forks Wink

Honestly can't remember, but I know it's enough so cause the problem Phil describes.

In any case, it's a moot point as he hasn't got SP forks. So they're either the wrong ones or they've been put in on the piss which is not likely as OP knows what he's doing.

It may also be because I haven't actually cleaned the oil from my gloves off the rubber and inside of the fork leg Embarassed

The dust seal has a steel spring strip that holds it in the outer leg. If it doesn't its the wrong type.

Made sure surface were totally dry and still no luck. I've messaged the seller, but I bought these 2 months ago and only just got round to it so will see how it goes with replacements.

There is a spring around the section on the slider, nothing for the outer leg.

Pup, any chance you can link me to the different types?

Type as in size, sorry my bad English. Did they come in a yellow backed pack by any chance as this supplier seems to have some bad measurements on these items?

Replacement seals arrived from the original seller today from Kyoto which also have the exact same issue and are 0.75mm smaller in diameter than the spec.

Additionally, I ordered a pair from Wemoto to just get them done, also came from Sifam/Kyoto and are the exact same dimensions as the other pairs so same issue again.

3 pairs, 2 suppliers all incorrect. Guess I best get a price from Suzuki for OEM ones!

All from the same wholesaler. I had the same problem with the bushes for Lozzy's Fireblade.

The Suzuki quote was

2x Dust Seal £19.55ea Part Number 51173-46E00
2x Oil Seal £14.90ea Part Number 51153-27C20

£70 for oil and dust seals!!

I did the same when I went to a dealer to get just the oil seals. Were £19 each... when you factor in the bushes too, shit gets expensive Laughing

Trying some from a generic seal and engineering supplier from correct spec. If they're the same I'll have no option other than get Suzuki OEM parts
