You know you can't use NCB on more than one bike right.

I wonder if anyones been caught, I've only ever been asked to send a pic of my NCB paper, and I heard they don't keep it on record, so how would they tell?

I may be wrong here, but i would of thought it has to be kept on record to some extent or they wouldn't keep track of your previous years NCB's when you goto renew/move to a new insurer and request it otherwise Question

So when they look and see you have two policies would expect it stands out like a sore thumb if both have a NCB 'active'.

Maybe day to day and renewing wise they won't really care or notice, but if you go to make a claim i'm sure they'd dive at a chance to say you provided false details etc when they go over your insurance details.

But maybe not Razz

No idea

I've got 2 car policies running with 9+ NCB on both. Used the same NCB proof a few years ago and nothing was said.

I rang up MCE as did someone on here when they requested my ncb I said It had not been posted to me yet, was waiting on swinton and I said can you not check your insurance databases and they said NCB's aren't tracked or something along those lines...

As far as I'm aware they either want the details of the previous insurer or a hard copy sent in.

It's weird how they don't have a database or section of the MID for NCB. I've often wondered if they bother calling the old insurers to check.

You pay them a premium, supposedly to insure you against fire, theft, injury or damage.
They then do everything possible to wriggle out of paying you what is rightly yours!

It's a scam, where you end up worse off, if you have the temerity to claim! Rolling Eyes

Simple!

I really dread the thought of chucking one of my bikes up the road. 750 excess for the Trophy, a 14000 pound bike that you can bet they will try their hardest not to pay on, and then my 27 years ncd fu**ed in a second.

I got protected NCB on my latest policy, think it only added 20-30 quid or something like that might be worth a look

That being said thought i don't think an accident WIPES your NCB if its quite large, just knocks it back a few years or something normally Question

Depends on the insurer. Some might allow you a claim without affecting you no claims, another might decide to wipe the no claims for a single claim. Some take protected no claims as meaning they only take a year or 2 of it away for a claim.

Either way they might decide to put a large loading on the renewal irrespective of the no claims.

All the best

multi bike policy £371 a year for both...

xj 600 £60.48 = £175.22

saving of £195 if i do 2 individual policys :S

the fuck?

Insurance is a mine field, to walk with care. I have a three bike multi policy. Just brought my third bike a few month's back. With 9 year's NCB on the multi bike policy ( two bike's). To get a third one added. It was close the one I had, Re open a new one. The third bike would go on with no NCB for this year. But would be lumped in with the other's next year at 9 year's NCB. Well next year it will be 10 year's worth of NCB. So this year I had to pay round £350, next it should be down some where round the £130 mark. Get on line and do some checking. Once you have a quote that you like ring the company with the quote number. They will run through it with you again, just make sure you have got it right. And Bob's your mother's brother. That's the price you will pay.
Hope that help's.

Thanks for clarifying Thumbs Up

Will have look into the specific insurers definition of 'protected' next time i renew then, maybe isnt as worthwhile as expected Confused

Presuming they will even give a clear reliable definition of it Laughing

Add to that whether other insurers will accept the no claims bonus which is only still in place due to it being protected Laughing .

Years ago my father crashed his car. He had protected no claims and lost 2 years worth of it (so 6 years max then reduced to 4 years). At renewal the insurance had gone from £350 to £870.

All the best

This is about the biggest scam they have going.....

You pay them to protect your NCB. It only stands if you stay with the same co.
You still have to declare a claim. So they will still load you for any claim.

That doesn't sound "protected".

When my wife crashed my car they didn't remove all of my NCB, they dropped it from what would have been 5 years at renewal, to 2 years.

I thought protected meant had 6 years, crashed, has 6 years at renewal (i.e. not 7, but also no 2/3/4).
