Red Grease for brakes

I've read the threads on brakes and notice that there's no mention of red grease. I was wondering why.

To explain, red grease, is basically a gelled veg oil that is formulated specifically for the seals and pistons of brakes. After 4 years of shit with my brakes, a good dose of red grease has sorted them.

Note: Don't confuse this for coppaslip, this is to go on the pistons, not the back of the pads. Coppaslip on the back of the pads reduces/prevents squeal as it damps down vibration.

I know about using red grease on rubber seals as normal grease perishes rubber but I've never put it on my brake pistons as I imagine all the crap off the road will just stick to it.

Have you seen the crap that sticks to the pistons anyway? You obviously haven't riddden through winter.

The grease actually keeps the crap away from the pistons.

Can I ask what you are riding/what sort of brakes (no of pistons etc) you have?

I've got two 4 pot callipers on my FZ and it's been a fucking bastard to keep the fuckers un-seized for the last 4 years until I used the grease.

I've cleaned then (with switch cleaner) and lubed them/added anti corrision with ASF80 to no success. Smeared the red grease round the pistons and worked them into the callipers and immediately noticed the difference and haven't needed to touch them since.

I always used copperslip on brakes as I thought it was the right thing to do, always had issues every year with brakes, kept cleaning them again and again. Just started to use red grease (bought a big tub of it) and all seems to be going smoothly.

Now what s white grease for?
