Me and a friend of mine thought we'd do a trip to Brugge (and a bit further hopefully) on the bikes....
and then thought what would make it more entertaining.
So the challenge became a 125 four stroke for £500, no motorways.
Very much a stupid idea but with the intention to hopefully becoming a trip full of tall tales of mechanical victory and endurance.
I'm not bad with a spanner so on route repairs are doable.
Anyone got any advice on potential pitfalls/good things to take with? ____________________ Project builds: My VFR400 nc30 build thread + Honda Britain Rep VFR + What? Another VFR +Project 'cos I want one' + V8 coffee table

A detailed map of the streets of Bruge, and exactly where you want to park.
Also bear in mind anything with wheels makes its own rules on the road.
Cobble streets aren't much fun
Arrive early but not too early so the car park isn't open, the streets get busy and confusing.
Cigar shops are awesome.
On the big square with the clock tower, face the clock tower, turn 180 degrees, there is a restaurant there that does Italian food, don't bother it is shit.
You must and I mean must eat at Maximillians, not cheap at all (cost me close to £400 last time for 2 meals all though new years eve) but the best food I have ever had in my whole entire life nothing comes close. The one next to the tea room, it's the left one.

Ice cold Hooergarden.
Christmas time there is much nicer as they have an ice rink.
But the big point will be, don't got Bruge the British have ruined it drunken yobs running around screaming they are British.
That said, I don't think the Autoroute up to Bruge will be fun on a 125. ____________________ Stinkwheel: You have no right to free speech

Doesn't seem all that adventurous in terms of distance from any of the European channel ferry ports. Depending on where you're starting from in the UK of course.
My Bullett is about as quick a CG125 and I went to Leipzig on it earlier this year. For that, I would recommend a sheepskin saddle cover. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
