Any way to get these sorted? They are deeper than they look in the photo.

The screen is of little worry, was going to fit a darker double bubble anyway, but the plastic was mint beforehand so I'd like to get it as close to perfect as I can. Unfortunately it was damaged when on loan (not his fault though... some muppet with a box scuffed it) and the guy has paid £100 for damaging the panel, but Suzuki are asking over £300 without decals.. so if you were to replace the whole front (light is scuffed also) you are looking up to £700 Laughing

Obviously I don't wanna rip the guy a new arsehole and make him pay to get it mint, although I should... I just fancy getting it tidy again.

If I were to go down the route of getting it a minter again, is it insurance based as its a guy who admitted to scuffing whilst unloading.. Ideally I'd get it done by a bodywork specialist rather than new parts Thumbs Up

Have you tried just taking it down to an autorepairs place and simply asking them for their advice? I think that would be a good idea to get a ball park figure of how much it would be to repair.

In my book... the guy has already paid for the damage, what he was presumably told should cover it and now thinks he is off the hook. If £100 wasn't enough, it should have been said in the first instance and not accepted as a final sum to compensate. I'd take it on the chin (the risk you take for lending bikes out) and just wait for a minter nose cone to come up. Granted, you want to sell the bike but tough luck.... be patient.

I didn't accept the money, this was all done outside of my hands.

Happy to take it somewhere for a quote, I just want it to be less scratched Laughing

You kind of accept that possibility when lending out the bike though. Put yourself in his shoes. It's a bit unfair (in my book) to go back and ask for more money. You could always try renting your bike out instead of giving it to lots of people to try so you can recoup your losses that way. Razz

Laughing Me being me, I would have got his details and got an estimate, but obviously Doovy was feeling rather bad and acted accordingly. Even called me to say he's truly sorry etc, it's not his fault, I know he had nothing to do with it.

I'd happily return the £100 to the guy and ask for either insurance or I'll get a quote for a body repairer, state Doovy didn't know the price of it etc... but like I said, I just want to get it looking nice again. Shit, if the guy just paid for a carbon front end, I'd be happier. Cheaper too Laughing

Oh and unfair, I've had a few unfair fuckers in my time Wink Guy braked hard, I scuffed his bumper, "no worries mate, it'll buff out" fucker went home and called his insurers saying I smashed into his car, fucker had reversed into a bollard to damage it more Evil or Very Mad

I had photos though, wang. Laughing

I've lent bikes out before. On the 'You bend it, you mend it' approach.

How about you take the nosecone from the CBR600RR? I've always thought the TL looked a bit dated anyway.

Oh of course, but in this aspect, it was another persons fault and the guy was happy to pay for the damage. I just believe the damage was way underestimated.

On and I don't believe a pointy SV or CBR front end would look to tasty on the blimp sized TL. Laughing

A body shop will have an abrasive cutter that will make it a lot better.

I'm in the process of setting something up for importing fairings from abroad - I can price up a replacement painted nose cone if you wanted at cost price to see how smoothly the transaction from the main company I'm looking at runs?

I'm trying to keep the bodywork as mint and original as possible as my overall plans are to carbon it and include the original panels should the other person not be homosex... Laughing

I don't want to spray it, it will not match the colour.

The headlight is scuffed, it isn't a light scuff, you can feel massive dips in between the actual scratch marks Sad

To make it look a bit better you could try this or something similar:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carplan-Touch-Up-Paint-Pen/dp/B005DS46TU

I was quite impressed with the black.
Red is harder to match but it would be less in your face than the light colour showing through and a trial is inexpensive.

Otherwise your options are replace the whole fairing - hideously expensive unless you strike lucky with a used one - or variations on fill, smooth and respray which won't be cheap either done properly - but closer to £100.

A purely cosmetic scrub like that wouldn't really bother me TBH.
But if you trade in or sell they will make a meal of it.
I almost prefer a bike with a few scuffs then you don't care about the inevitable extra ones it gets.

£100-200 as it will have to be stripped, preped, painted.

it takes some 'man-hours' to do plus a tin/s of paint/laquer will cost about £50 +

Do Not do a cheap job or it will look like a cheap job.

IS it the same as the TL1000R nose? If so, can get a replacement to you for £96.

Pity. It would have looked hilarious.
