Well it's happened again i hedged it
So riding along going home i hit a pot hole ( a rather big one) thought nothing of it quite use to it on the old welsh back roads.Approaching a corner i can take at 30 - 40 mph easy enough. But this time it didn't i went straight on which resulted in the bike almost upside down it the hedge. Luckily a farmer passing by helped me get the bike back on road not a lot of damage few more scratches cracked indie etc and it fired up after a few attempts little bit of white smoke which cleared away.So what caused this on closer inspection i noticed the fork seals were almost out the forks e-bay shite i guess and oil all over the place tires brake disc etc .Now to explain to the lovely missis that bikes are not not dangerous chocolate and flowers should do..Better get some decent oem seals this time and pay some body more competent to fit..

That is seriously impressive to achieve that as long as you and the bike are (mostly) ok all is well! |

Can't see how you could blow the seals out of the forks - even pattern ones - unless you forgot to put the retaining clips in. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

When it comes to mechanics, lessons learnt are always so expensive
Lucky it was just a hedge! |

Sorry no pics of the forks bike has gone to the local bike shop for repairs but.
On inspection of the probable cause my mech has found a fault quite serious to.Where the dust seal fits from there down it has actually cracked which he recons is the cause of every thing slipping out.He recons it's quite common if the bike has had a crash before .I did have a small one last year so could this of caused it?.Any way i'm now on a the search for some new forks so might as well do a twin disc conversion.
now my lovely has finally realised it's not mine or the bikes fault so is quite happy for me to carry on riding but i have to do more checks etc lesson learn't i suppose. So if you do have a off even a small minor one give your bike a good check over you never know |
