Varadero idle?

Someone I work with thought it would be funny to flick my kill switch and turn my tick over screw down what should it idle at? I set it to 1500 ish once I worked out why it would not idle.

Also I have covered 2437 miles since I had the oil changed nearly three weeks ago. The mechanic said he would stretch it to 3000 before changing it?

If you have a haynes manual it will state in there what the idle needs to be set at - mine is around 1300 - I can't see 1500 being a problem but you might as well check (you can probably find a PDF of the manual online for free).

The oil change sounds about right too. 125s should really have more regular servicing due to the fact they are generally ridden harder.

About 1300 is about right for idle speed. But are you sure that this is what is the issue and not a sticking choke cable?

Must be correct then.

Yes the kill switch was flicked on so I knew someone had been playing and it would not idle kept cutting out...When I turned the screw it went back to normal.

Mine was set to about 1200 I seem to remember, think the handbook says 1250 + or - 50

In all seriousness, it's probbably fucked up the TPS.

You can get away with removing it completely, common mod on theese.

Part number 18 on that pic - it'll have a fuel line connected to it for the sensor feed disconnect this and blank it off, undo the plug & pop it out. You'll also gain a few horsepower in the midrange. Feckin euro3 emmissions bullshit.

If its FI, should auto choke to 2k when cold and drop to 1250-1300.

If carbed, should cold idle around 1k. Choke it to 2.5k and idle again at 1250-1300.

I do my oil regularly but I'd probably stretch it to 3k if I was you, give the sump bolt some time to recover
