How would you run the electrics? Do they have enough generators/fuel for a year?

Don't forget those missile silo houses from ten years ago:

To be honest it sounds like an awesome garage home idea. Wouldn't imagine anyone trying to steal your car/bike if you had it in a bunker.

Who's to say there isn't going to be a nuclear war in the (probably near) future, the amount of countries the Americans are pissing off and the UK is being dragged along for the ride.... is there anything like this built in the UK?

Quite a few, some of them are "Closed to public" but they do come up for sale now and then. Like this one from last year.

Love stuff like this, underground bunkers/houses/bases etc.

Did anyone ever go in the white cliffs of Dover? I remember doing it with school as a child and being mind blown at all the tunnels and rooms in there.

Most councils have one built as part of a civil defence network in the 80s. They're all decommissioned (in Scotland anyway) and are used as local emergency centres or meeting/training facilitiies. I've been in a few of them.

We have essentially zero civil contingency capability, it's just so expensive and they money is probably better spent on normal emergency services. No bunkers/shelters. No warning systems. I doubt there is much in the way of reserve stuff, and even if there was it would only end up getting bombed.

The bunkers are still there but the voice and radio comms are long gone. Ours still has all the other kit though including a faraday cage for comms gear, generators, decon showers, bunk room, kitchen, toilets etc. It's thought provoking stuff.

It's the comms and supplies that really make it what it is. Even comms aren't much good unless other people also have said comms too. These days in military terms bunkers are a bit of a liability due to precision munitions. If it's too deep to bunker buster, they just hit the entrances instead. With all the imaging sats about making a new secret bunker and keeping it secret would be nearly impossible.
