On way home yesterday i was poodling along at about 55 on a 50 road.. you see where this is going...

Got to a speed camera that i pass twice a day that i know hasn't worked for years...

Turns out it now works as of yesterday afternoon.

went past it at about 55 and the dreaded double flash of doom.

Caught me bang to rights :/ bit of a pain as i had a clean license untill now. 3 points coming my way unless i get offered a speed awareness which i obviously wont.

You might as you wasn't that far over, regardless 3 points doesn't change much with regards to insurance.

Treat every speed camera as 'live'. Also questionable vans on motorway bridges and the like.

55 in 50 should be grounds for speed awareness course if they do them.

If it's a normal Gatso, you might be lucky and it may have used it's film up on other people.

Hope its not set up properly yet, sometimes they flash but dont take a picture, unlikely if its been completely off but fingers crossed eh

How won't you get offered a speed awarness course?

Its 10% +1 a mile so 56mph you get a fine.

i think they may have put a film in it :/
yesterday the road was shut due to a cyclist being hit by a van and being in a bad way so i think they sorted the camera out for this reason.

bad luck to be me but hopefully i can do a speed awareness course.

How many speed awareness courses can someone get?

Is the course just for drivers/riders who do not pass the speed limit by a certain margin.

I got a speed awareness course for 36 in a 30 and less than one week later a fine and 3 points for 36 in a 30 again! talk about unlucky. Mind you it was in my company van and not on the bike.

Every two years I beleive. Was caught doing 36 in a 30 in the New Forest.. Im waiting for one in the post as we speak. Rode to Lands End last week, A30 bored me so was going a bit faster - untill I see lines on the road. If there was a camera there, it would of been hiden behind the bridge - as I certanly didnt see one on the left anywhere

10% of 50mph would make 55mph so surely it shouldnt of triggered but if it did you should be ok as it is under the 57 mph start off.

I got one for 79 in NSL zone on the A1, gutted but did the course down south. I think you can do more often than 2 years as long as it was in a different constabulary area.
