 |
|
Hi guys, hope you can help.
My lexmoto Arizona is coming up on it's 4 month service, had my first service with the dealer I bought it from, but they are quite expensive, & basically i'm poor lol. so my question is, am i tied to the dealer if i want to maintain my warranty, & if not, what are the requirements if i go somewhere else, ie, dealer stamp, VAT registered, or can i use a friend who is good with bikes & generally does his own servicing (i'm assuming the latter is a no no )
The dealer service was £125, which seems a bit steep ?
thanks in advance. ____________________ I toast, Therefore I am... |

yup, maybe it's just because it's a Chinese bike, i'd be interested in seeing the exclusions on a honda/suzuki,
That said, i am perfectly happy with the bike so far, & have had no issues with it (Yet) & a friend has the same bike & has put nearly 20k on it without any issues,
Tho, i will say this, i paid £1200 for mine, because i figured local dealer for peace of mind, (first bike jitters etc) & i could have gotten it for £899 inc delivery & vat if i'd wanted it delivered in a crate.
i think if i had to do it again, i would have gone for the crate..
£300 cheaper, + 3 dealer services totalling £375 = £675 saved
when i could get the service done by my friend for the price of parts & a pint lol... ____________________ I toast, Therefore I am... |

agreed, but given the hassle if they get pissy, & the fact the price appears about average, it's not worth my while looking elsewhere, that said, i'll be passing a local garage on the way to the dentists tomorrow, so i might pop in & ask.
& thanks for sharing that link, it is appreciated ____________________ I toast, Therefore I am... |

For emphasis. Saves me saying it, we done got did over by that one.
Back to the OP though, eff that, it's a Lexmoto, don't spend 1/5th of its used value on a "dealer" service, just DIY it and put the money saved in a "spare parts" jar. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

That must be the worst warranty I've ever seen
I'm particularly enjoying "Any parts/components that are by common sense or trade practice excluded from warranty", which could be construed to mean virtually anything. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Back to the OP though, eff that, it's a Lexmoto,
i did quite a bit of research before i got it, having seen some chinese horror stories, & it came down to the arizona (actually made by zongshen) & the huoniao hn125 (Korean cg125 copy) aka lexmoto vixen, these where the only 2 i even considered, every other lexmoto (especially the ones they actually seem to make themselves) have some real horror stories..
it came down to the fact that i have a friend who had the arizona untill he got his full licence & clocked 20k + on it without any issues beyond reasonable wear & tear.
tho, if i had it to do again, i would not have gone via the registered dealer route, i would have just got it delivered to my door in a crate & saved £600+ at that, i could replace the whole engine if required & still be quids in :/ ____________________ I toast, Therefore I am... |

The Honda CM125 copy made by Jiangmen Dihao Motorcycles in Guangdong Province Korea China?
The Arizona is a reasonable choice, but don't kid yourself about how much it's worth. You're not keeping any value in it by paying for dealer servicing, and that "warranty" is indeed a disappointing joke.

You can't save that much any more. The HN is £729 + £85 delivery + £10 for a plate = £824 vs £850 for the Vixen. Add £72 to both for registration and VED, factor in the hassle of doing the registration yourself, and the benefit of the Lexmoto being on the main insurance lists and potential buyers potentially having heard of it, and the Lexmoto wins hands and knees down.
The one upside to the HN is that because LearnerLegal don't have a dealer network, they're pretty easy about warranty work. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
