Honda Demonstrates Advanced Vehicle-to-Pedestrian and Vehicle-to-Motorcycle Safety Technologies
'Vehicle-to-Motorcycle (V2M) Technology
Using the DSRC communication system, Honda's Vehicle-to-Motorcycle (V2M) technology can determine the potential for a collision between a motorcycle and an automobile. The V2M system's advantage is its ability to sense the presence of a motorcycle even when it is obstructed from the view of nearby automobile drivers. The system provides auditory and visual warnings to the automobile driver. This system is being researched and tested in cooperation with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute.'
I wonder if Honda will accept liability when a car fitted with this technology hits a motorcycle....Hmmm. Still, it's a step in the right direction.

"Still in the experimental stage", and has been for years.
Given that such a system would have to shriek before the clot pulls out or wanders across lanes, it would be going off whenever it spotted a bike. So it would get de-activated in short order, because fakking bikers interrupting me while Shazza was telling me about this bloke what shagged her up the Gala.
Alternatively, make it too reactive and it would only serve as a "drop your phone on your lap, brace for impact, and turn on your wipers" warning. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
