Nice way to end the day!

About an hour ago, I was reversed into by this pleb driving a Nissan GT R.

I had my mate on the back (returning from work) and was dropping him off home. I turn right out of a junction meeting this GT R moving slowly. He then stops. He then proceeds to reverse with me right behind him. I open my throttle as far as it could go to warn him but he hit me and the bike went over. Damage is as follows:

Fucked front mudguard
Bent gear shifter.

That's literally it. He was very apologetic. Turns out he was about to reverse into his drive, but he was so shook up he decided to drive off after we exchanged details because by bike was in the way Laughing

He offered to pay for the damage. He e-mailed me his details which included a link to his website. Turns out he owns his own business and he is fucking minted!

Obligatory paint diagram:

I do not want to go through insurance, but he offered to pay for it so I will see how this pans out. I e-mailed him all the part numbers so I will have to wait and see.

FFS!

Sounds fair enough. Check carefully to satisfy yourself that there is no other damage. If it's just the mudguard and shifter then definitely accept his offer, there's no need to involve your insurer.

Your exhaust which emits sound backwards, or a horn that faces forwards?

Just cause you can hear it, it doesn't mean somebody in a very well sound proofed car like a GTR will hear it when the sound isn't even going towards him Rolling Eyes

I remember stopping on my CBT close behind a queue of traffic.

And was asked if I could walk back faster than they could reverse, simply too close when stopped.

Regardless of fault, it takes 2 people to have an accident, and 9/10 it's always avoidable.

have done the same myself when someone pulled out right in front of me.

all my brain power went into managing to stop in time (which i thankfully did about an inch from them with the rear wheel waving in the air) so by the time i stopped my mind was still in survival mode and although i wanted to beep for the life of me i couldn't think what button to press (tried pressing the starter) by the time i'd come to my senses the dozy twat that hadn't seen me at all (read: didn't even bother looking before pulling out) had just continued to drive off and the moment had passed.

Not angry enough to make proper use of the horn until after the collision?

I have 'gone for the horn in anger' in the past and set my indicators off. Embarassed Having seen the incident happening, reacted, managed to stop in time and not stall uses up all my limited computing power. Leaving me dabbing at the indicators like derp a second or two later. Embarassed Shocked Laughing

When the big recoevery truck reversed into my bike, the bloke in it said that he could hear the horn blowing, but couldn't see anything behind him. So he carried on reversing...

I carry a bright coloured hankerchief in an inside jacket pocket so as to wave in the air for just this sort of event. Rolling Eyes

Do you not agree that a lot of people put themselves in a near miss situation so as to be able to cause a fuss like this?

You see it all the time from V-Loggers, cyclists etc. Most of the time the "incident" may not be their "fault" but most of the time, they could have also avoided it.

A car driving slowly past houses, that means then that Grumpy has only just got to the junction and has pulled straight out behind it, in which case he probably hasn't seen it for long enough to know that it was driving very slowly.

Or, he has waited at the junction for this "very slow" car to drive past and then follow it out, right up it's arse?

Or the junction had a nice clean view, and on his approach to the junction could see the car, and therefore the hazard. But then decided to put himself in a position of risk anyway. Somebody driving slowly past houses, are obviously looking for something.

I'm not saying the car driver is in the right, just that most of these "accidents" can be avoided by being a bit intelligent instead of purposefully putting yourself at risk to be in the "right" and be able to make a fuss to show off to your pillion.

He was uninsured, so you called the police and claimed off the MIB right?
