Hiya, lots of qustions from me today Smile

Just got a set of headsets for inside the lids, so that me and SHMBO can chat whilst out (or at least, she can nag about how fast I am going).

The mic's and speakers fit in the lids nicely and the wires feed under and inside the padding rather hidden and lovely.

The problem I have is that where the main wire comes out of teh bacl of the lid, I keep on catching it and pulling it out a bit, menain gI have to re-fit the last inch or so back into the padding every time.

I have tried normal Duct tape to secure it, but as it is is secured partly on the outside of the lid and partly on the vinal padding un the read/neck pad, it just keeps on peeling off.

Any ideas on stronger adhesive tape to secure it?

Was thinking about carpet tape, would that do?

Cheers again

Mike

Isnt carpet tape double sided? Can you not route any of the cable to go behind some padding or try taking the cable out of the side of the helmet instead of the rear. Thumbs Up

The trouble with tape is the adhesive system used. Solvent based systems leech the plasticiser from the vinyl on your lid and leave a gooey mess behind. Water based systems just aren't up to the job as moisture will eventually get to them.

If you can't find any other way of sorting your wiring out, I'd recommend getting a cheap hot-glue gun off ebay and using that. You'll also find that you can use the gun and glue to fix all sorts of other stuff too (found that it's pretty good at fixing broken bobbles on fairings Smile )

I have the headset cable (starcom) running out of the side of the helmet next to the strap, & zip tied to the strap anchor ring inside the helmet liner between the liner & the shell, then the rest of the cable runs out of the helmet neatly between the liner & the shell & down in front of my shoulder

The traditional approach to this problem is to just ignore the screaming, blaming the wind noise for your lack of response when questioned after the event.

It'll be harder to ignore if you have a headset on feeding the comments on your riding, your sexual prowess and your parentage directly into your ear so I suggest dropping the idea straight away.

there is a cable clip that allows cable to be fastened to glass or other panels so it has a small flat base with a very sticky pad on it then the cable clamp on top.

look in the pound shop..like this but much smaller
