Insurance doesn't cover engine faults unless caused by theft or accident anyway.
If it just goes bang of it's own accord that is just part of the fun, insurance would just laugh at you. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? Hi, I'm new to this forum, but saw thread and wanted to reply.
I got my S4 back on the road a couple of weeks ago after many months.
I've had the bike for years with no bother at all. However, early this year I decided to see what the S4 could really do, and (for the first time) redlined it in all gears. It felt brilliant right up until I dropped a valve and wrecked the engine.
I then had the same options... Break it for spares, fit another engine, or repair it.
After investigating the damage, it would have cost more than the bike's worth to repair, so decided on another engine.
I know that you mentioned a TT600 engine, but do you know there are different internal bits? The differences, give the S4 more power low down and through the range. The S4 fuelling (stutter aside) is much better as well.
I found that there's loads of TT600 engines out there, but it's much harder to find a good S4 one. Eventually I did find one in Ireland which cost 500 Euros (approx £417). Not cheap, but I was desperate by then.
I don't know about fitting a Daytona engine. It sounds interesting, but if you were happy enough with the S4 then it might be simpler to get another S4 engine if you can find one. |

The TT600 only has different cams and a different map I believe.
From reading that post about the D650 engine, it looks like you would need everything from a D650 engine, airbox, injectors, ECU, exhaust, loom. Probably best off buying a wrecked bike. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |
