I put my bike away for winter, then I take it back out in winter, usually when I am done riding, then I repeat all year around.

I mostly like the looks I get riding a filthy stinking Ducati to bike stops and pulling up next to long way homers on their BMWs with Ewan McGregor textiles, whilst I am in a race suit.

Also, is this "race suit" of yours tight fitting leather that splices your gonad pouch into a neat little camel toe, or how does it work exactly?

Its a 750SS paddy, ridden 4 times in the snow as well.



Indeed I do rock a camel toe most of the time, and when I am not I am rocking the "my leathers are indeed full of ahit where I pooped myself.

you mean like all the professional racers wear them - the way they're meant to be worn?
so If you come off the tightness of the leather holds the padding and protection in place where it ll work an do its job?

I am debating not riding my bike this winter, at the moment I use it daily to commute on, but I think I might be able to get lifts. This would be the first time I do this, and I was thinking about getting a cheaper bike to use. Main reason for putting it away is not wanting it to become all crud up like every other bike I've ridden through winter.

My bike will most likely go inside my house from November and won't be out until February. So many things to do - valve clearance checking and adjusting, new spark plugs, cleaning carbs/air intake, new filters, new engine oil, new cooling liquid, new brake discs/pads, new braided brake hoses, new brake liquid, fork oil change, new fairings, low budget diy tail tidy, new small indicators, wheel and headstock bearings replacement. new sprockets and chain, oiling, lubricating, carb balancing, cleaning. No way I'll be doing all that in my garden in sub 0 temperatures Wink

I don't enjoy riding in cold I won't miss riding that much. TD season will start from next spring. I'd like to have 2 sets of wheels as well.

I don't take my bikes out in winter!
They get wet & dirty and then that makes their tailored covers dirty when I put my bikes back in their heated garage.



oh and of course I`m not as big and manly as you lot riding your bikes in the freezing cold?

That's what we want you to think.

In reality, sunny winter days are very pleasant and winter commuters only tough out the crappy rides because:

1 - they are too poor to run a car
2 - they are too unimportant to get a parking space
3 - they live in a congested shit hole where car drivers starve to death behind the wheel each morning
4 - they are TeflonMike and find bikes to be more stable than cars in the ice.


I ride through winter due to a combination of 1 and 2, if I had alternatives I'd jump at them.

Thumbs Up I'm a 3. My main alternative is the tube. The congestion charge and £25/day parking fees means the car isn't an option.

I don't take the tube most days because I value my time with my family. Commuting by bike takes at most 1.5 hours a day (depending on route, traffic), while commuting by London Underground takes about twice that, assuming everything works.

I can tolerate cold hands for 45 minutes or so. It's worth it for the extra hours in the day.
