You can defer the test should they request to test the power output and the certificates aren't legally enforceable so they may ask you to provide one, but you aren't really under much obligation to.. simply stating its legit is fine. |

Have only heard of people getting in trouble for it when they've admitted to the police that their bike isn't restricted.
A minimum of 133bhp is the way to go. |

I got pulled for wheelying in front of a police car, like a dope.
Didn't ask about things like that, I didn't even have any paper work on me, no licence, nothing, I was lucky really.
I did tell them about the restriction though, to prove to them as much as I could about myself. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

Restriction... TTR250?
You trollin', they make 28hp from new |
Not that one you dope.
I meant the restriction on my licence.
Mine is probably pushing a whopping 18bhp at the wheel. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

Heh, I like the bit about a throttle stop. I've read someone opine that's not MAKING a REESANOBLE EFORT...
A copper is quite within their rights to swipe your bike if they form a reasonable belief that you're riding it otherwise than in accordance. Why would they (reasonably) believe that it's been restricted unless you can produce some evidence of that?
I doubt it happens often, but when it does it can end badly. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

My guess is that police is not a problem.
The real problems can happen if you have an accident and need to deal with your insurance company. ____________________ MCForum meetup - One of the biggest motorcycle clubs in UK |

I've still got a few months of 33bhp to go but have been riding full power bikes since day one of passing my test.
As long as you don't get caught doing silly speeds I reckon you have more chance of winning the lottery than being caught out.

Chap had an SV650 seized by a copper who asserted that the bike itself had to be marked with tangible evidence that it was restricted.
Weeks passed, with the rider bikeless and under the threat of prosecution.
The bike allegedly dynoed at more than 10% over 33bhp despite having a "restricted ECU" fitted that the owner had bought used on eBay. Oops!
"Fortunately", the dyno place caught fire, and the bike got scorched.
Probably as a result of the embarrassment from that, the prosecution was dropped and the chap eventually got the remains of his bike back.
It's a pretty sorry tale, but does go to highlight that it only takes one copper having a bad moustache day to stuff you up.
The other thing that stands out for me is that when you buy a "restrictor" for your bike, what real confidence do you have that it's doing what it claims to do?
I believe that a convincing looking PaddyCerttm is more valuable in most situations than a couple of washers or a throttle stop, especially if accompanied by a visible looking device attached to the bike.
I've seen a Moto Guzzi that had been allegedly 25kW restricted by a dyno place by fitting a throttle stop screw to it. Cost the chap £180, but it was a very nice bright blue screw...
I say "allegedly" as it certainly cracked on sharply enough. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
