I have a slight conundrumderum and was wondering about some practical advice as i know people on here have good experience on both these bikes.

I'm just wondering what the characteristics of each bike are for practical porpoises.

I had a test ride on the cbr last night and while it was pretty goddamn fun, i was immediately feeling slight pain on my wrists, i also felt like my knees were up inside my chest.

I'm most likely going to test ride the kwakker tonight but was just after some input really.

the two bikes in question are

obviously the honda has a lot more goodies on it.

all input greatly appreciated, many thanks.

most full on sports bikes will give you pain in your wrist as due to the position your constantly putting stress on them and your knees are always bent.

the older kawasaki's zx6r G1, G2, J1, J2 have a more forgiving posture

the even older F models are even far more comfortable but depending on your taste look dated

would you consider one of them

yeah i pretty much figured that was the case, it wasn't a constant pain however. was just curious as to whether the kwak is a slightly less aggresive style or not.

I've had both those bikes. As far as riding position is concerned, there's not much in it, you'll get used to it. Use your knees on the tank to take weight of your wrists.

I preferred the Kwak to the CBR, it had more go.

Get on both bikes, test rides etc. Then chose the one you like the look of most (becuase that's what you'll do anyway Wink )

As above - weight on the bars is bad. So you should be getting back pain as the weight should be held by your 'core' rather than wrist pain Smile.

Also - might want to consider an edit of the links, which have your postcode in.
Just stick in the postcode for somewhere else.

not really that bothered by the postcode. its just my town high street anyway.

the pain wasnt unbearable it was just noticeable discomfort as im used to a street triple.

with regards to those two bikes though, is having all the extra bits on the honda any benefit to me in comparison to the kwak?

also final question, which one seems better value for money?

thanks for all the responses so far.

Can't give an opinion on the other though

Both of those are over priced, you should be looking at 06-08 bikes for that money. Of the two the Kwak has more oomph and a slightly less silly riding position. 06 Daytonas are easily within range however.

Those, you've found, are not cheap, I'd look somewhere else, but IF you want it, then there's no need to hold yourself back. And I'd say 636 is the bike, I like the message/idea kawasaki gives, the fastest but not the best. As, I ride a ZX7R at the moment I know what that means, great engine though. Thumbs Up

EDIT: I think, it's the engine what defines a motorcycle. Other bits are bought from catalogue and replaceable, anyway.

Well I think it's obvious which I'd go for Laughing

Having said that, I've never ridden the Kawasaki.

I'd go kwak but maybe thats biased Laughing

I'm 5''10 and don't get much discomfort on long rides on my 05, over about 4 hours it becomes straining on the knees but i think thats likely to happen on even the comfiest of bikes so its probably not too bad if you're a similar height to me.

I'd go kwak of those 2 purely on the money, the 'extras' thrown in on the CBR aren't much in excess of the additional money anyway i wouldn't of thought.

You can probably get both of them a few hundred cheaper in either case though [unless you need them particularly local and they're all that was available].

problem im getting is getting a p-ex quote for my str, its an 09 with 20100 miles on it. i get on well with the chap that owns wob and hes given me a half decent quote for mine which at 3750 seemed quite reasonable. especially as a triumph dealer only offered 3500.

ill test ride the kwak tonight, might see if hes willing to chuck some stuff in for me.

again thanks for all the replies chaps.

Have you had a check of biketrader and the like to get some idea what they're selling for privately also, i've always found dealer/p-x prices to be way below so far, not saying they always are but you might find they're going for a fair whack more if you sell it yourself, if its an option with time/having no bike for a while of course Thumbs Down

I'm probably being biased but i've personally never had a single problem with my zx6 in the 3 and a bit years i've had it now would really recommend them for the price they go for, think they look rather tasty too Twisted Evil

i have done a perusal! by the looks of it, mine would be the highest mileage for sale in the country at that age. similar non R's are going for around 4 grand so I don't think I'm getting shafted on that front. I don't really have the time to sell it myself and can't be dealing without a bike for any period of time.

i like the look of both bikes, depends how they feel to ride.

monster sticker would most definitely have to be hastily removed though.

Mine came decaled up to the eyeballs too, had to sit for a few hours stripping them all off Laughing

No idea about the honda regards this, but so far mines held its value really well to be honest so they seem a fairly safe investment for now at least. I bought it for a shade over 3800 IIRC at 1.2k on the clock just over 3 years ago and I could probably sell it for only a few hundred less now, going by the ones i've seen selling on biketrader the last few months - at 21k miles now.

Personally I'd go for the Ninja. Thumbs Up

Although both are pretty decent by the looks of the ad.

+1. Both are really overpriced.

For me out of those, I'd probably take the Kawasaki, as it's cheaper. Have to take off those stupid monster decals though.
