Found a lovely condition Skyjet 125, only thing is wrong with it is it has no choke cable but replace that simply, everything else works fine he said, wanted 500 but offered him 420 and he said alright.
Problem is I get paid in 6 days and he said if somebody offered him the money he won't say no.. So it's the waiting game for me.. ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop. |

If you knew enough to live with a Chinky-Bike, you'd know enough not to buy one.
£500 is scraping the barrel money for anything with tax and test; and if you know your AF from your imperial, it could make a penny-anti bus-fare beater; BUT
Early Skyjets were horendouse. big-bore pit-bike engine in a CBF rip off frame with very poor CBRish plastics to cover the sins; they were about as quick as a C70, and probably didn't even handle as well as one of them. They were the Toys-R-Us dress up, I wanna-be a Toys-R-Us dress up, I wannabe a big-bike... and no there isn;t a clip & paste error in there! A pretender to a pretender!
Unless you REALLY know what you are getting.... hope that some-one else more dumm comes along with cash in thier hands before pay-day... not that they dont! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

You mean mechanically lovely under the plastics, or that the owner has given it a wash? What are the condition of the tyres, brakes, chain, sprockets, bearings, and shocks?
| TomReilly wrote: | only thing is wrong with it is it has no choke cable |
You should probably ask yourself why not, and why the owner hasn't replaced it, except that...
| TomReilly wrote: | offered him 420 [that I don't have and am now having second thoughts] |
...you are the reason that so many eBay / Gumtree adverts rage "NO MORE TIME WASTERS".
You've made an offer, and now you're asking for advice?
That's a dick move. You offered what you don't have, you're not committed to it, and so your word is worth nothing. Poor show.
Right, the bike. I've had two Chinese made bikes, I might have another, but I would not seek out a Skyjet nor would I expect it to be anything other than a project bike and a source of problems.
You might get lucky, but if you're relying on that as a sole source of transport then I hope you've left enough in your budget for a decent tool kit and some spare parts. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

It's not a dick move mate, at all, I do have the money I have already earned over that I just don't get it till pay day like most people, and I didn't ask, 'do I buy or not' I asked for oppinions, so either 'shit' or 'good enough to get you around' ____________________ Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If it gets bought then the threads about it in the workshop will have many "told you so" posts. |

A jap bike can be had for like £700 |

It is, and I'm not your mate, buddy.
| TomReilly wrote: | I didn't ask, 'do I buy or not' |
You didn't have to type the words, that is exactly what you are asking. If not, what's the point of this thread? Go and buy the bike, then we'll see you in the Workshop section.
| TomReilly wrote: | I asked for oppinions, so either 'shit' or 'good enough to get you around' |
Shit, but might be good enough to get you round. Entirely depends on the actual bike. If the tyres, brakes, chain, sprocket, bearings and suspension are all fine then you won't lose much even if you have to part it out, but don't spend one penny more on it than you absolutely have to.
Now go and pay the nice mister what you offered, since this isn't a "do I buy or not" thread. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

NOOOOO.
I'm no expert I don't even ride yet but if you get a Chinese bike you'll end up spending more money than the bike itself on repairs. That is if the garage is even WILLING to touch a Chinese bike. Don't!
I was thinking about buying a Skyjet but I totally changed my mind after the reviews.
