You'll want them all listed on a policy, as otherwise the DVLA will come at you with flensing knives, looking for their hundred pounds of Continuous Insurance flesh. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You used to be able to buy something called a "rider policy". Suffice to say that it was far too cost effective and therefore culled from the ledgers many, many years ago ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

Using a trade policy to insure multiple private machines is a very dodgy thing to do even if you set up a 'company' for it. In the event of a claim every insurance company wants to reduce the costs as much as possible and be quite sure on the fact that they will be asking for accounts and receipts, proof of trading, etc., etc. Most of them now will also be more difficult to get policies in the second year if you can't prove trading - they've finally cottoned onto the fact that people are using them as a 'multi' or 'modified' cheap option (prices have risen drastically in the past 3 years too).
Multibike policies are a good option for some, but as already stated it depends on your personal situation. For me insuring singly my insurance premiums are £74, £52 and £49 (last two are most recent quotes on 'very nearly finished' bikes ). Using a multibike policy this would be £390 for the first bike, then 'about' 80 quid for each one after that.........
Hit the comparison sites, have a phone around - there's no single easy answer. |
