Hi people, I'm a newbie in terms of this forum and to bike riding!
Been riding for 5 weeks on my new Chinese Lexmoto xtrs 125 ( good value for the money)
I've had about 11 hours of training so far ( paid for 20 and the two tests) and passed my Mod 1 yesterday. Thumbs Up
My question to you experienced folk is, where would you advise me to take my Mod 2 test, in a town I don't know the area of, or my own Town?
My trainer normally takes his students to the other Town for the test, but my instinct tells me to take it in my back yard so to speak Smile
Any advice would be gratefully accepted Very Happy

Would depend how confidant you are on roads you don't know.
And chinese bike are only good value for money if you punt them off before they rust to bits and fall apart, usually before its first MOT, or a could be wrong, isn't lexmoto one of the "not so bad" ones.

Thanks for the reply, using a 600 fazer for training on and tests.
When/if I pass the mod2 I would like a cbr 600 not the RR though.
We do our training in various towns as the instructor doesn't train people to ride test routes.
But on strange roads my attention is all over the place looking at every road signs and lane markings, taking my eye off the road so to speak!

Take it in a town you don't know.that way you will concentrating more on what you are doing looking a road signs etc you honestly stand a better chance of passing this way Thumbs Up doing it in your own town you are liable to get to confident and fuck it up Thumbs Up

I did my test in Pinner; I'd never been to the place before.

Instructor and I went to the test centre a few hours before my appointment, spoke to a local instructor & found out what the hot-spots were, practiced them, and I walked away with a clean sheet.

Experience of the area isn't necessarily a help. No end of "qualified" people round my way take the same roundabout wrong every day.

What town you do your test in shouldn't make the slightest bit of difference if you're able to ride at test standard.

Take it at the most convenient place. If you're good enough to pass then you'll pass anywhere.

I did my first Module 2 in Worcester, which I know like the back of my hand. The examiner, fat Tony, who is infamous amongst riding schools around here, failed me for saying I couldn't see clearly enough at a roundabout when I pulled away. How he knew this when he was at least 100ft behind me at the time is beyond me.

For my retake I went to Gloucester, which is don't know at all, and my examiner was a relief one, really nice guy, and because he didn't know the area either did not mind that I was travelling at 40 in a 30 for a considerable amount of time.

The pass rates for each test centre are published online, IIRC Gloucester was around 80% and Worcester was just over 50. Let that be your guide.
