Hi, after getting some of those aftermarket heated seat pads for the car. Could I connect the 12v cigarette lighter type ones to a switch on the dash then to a battery or is it not that simple? I.e. cut plug end off - switch - battery. Ive wired a amp in twice before so figured it wouldnt be much different. How is it possible to wire it to the ignition? Could I use the ignition lead that also tells the amp to power up?
Thanks, Grant

you could mate yea, but you would need a relay to switch them when the ign is on if they draw a bit of power so it doesn't overload whatever you power it from, if you already have an ign fed amp then use the same feed to switch the relay, simple enough and a couple of quid for the relay and some terminals etc.

Wire it to a relay/ignition. There is a guide by stinkwheel on here somewhere on how to do it.

Thanks guys. If I had two heated pads can they both be connected to a single relay but with 2 switches to allow them to be operated individually or do they need a seperate relay? Any risks of drawing too much power if I run 2 heated seats + an amp in a 1.4 petrol peugeot 206?
To conteol temperature will I just connect up some kind of variable resistor or is it not needed? Will only be cheap £10 ebay pads.
Thanks
