info/help on rear shock

as you all know i bought a aprilia shiver 2010

now i have been riding a bit i like it to be just a little lower so my question is can this be done to a certain degree via the rear shock

and as in the picture as i dont100% understand if i turn clockwise will this make the shock stiffer as anticlockise towards the top would make it more springy also going towards the top would this increase the height

also what does the dampening screw work what does it do and what sort of setting should i be looking at any info or help would be great thanks

this is by first sports bike ive always had low down cruisers

NO. Except when you sit on it. If you are really heavy. Google Setting shock SAG.

Lowering kit
You can also lower a lower seat, by removing some of the foam.

Better off setting it to stock, setting the sag to your weight then just getting used to it, rather than ruining the geometry by lowering it or fecking about with the suspension settings when you don't know what you are doing.

Just lower the front by the same and all is back as it was.

TBH. My Versys. has been lowered at the back by 40 M/M. Leaving the front as it was, or dropping 50M/M down the forks makes no difference that you can feel on the road.

Read that, then tell me if you should be lowering the shock by adjusting it rather than getting the bike adjusted properly.

To be honest if you're able to ride the bike as it is then you'll get used to it soon enough.
