I would have googled 'False Widow' before coming onto a Man's/Hard Woman's bike forum squealing like a stuck pig. Rolling Eyes

It looks more like a False Eyelash you big girl's blouse. Rolling Eyes

Very Happy

It's a spider. It won't hurt you unless you piss it off. Leave it be.

Frankly I'm surprised the spider tolerates it.

Araneus diadematus. Garden or Cross spider. It's large because it's full of eggs.

Run while you still can.

I find peoples reactions to spiders pretty funny.

Even if you knew it was a super-death anniahlation jumping-killer spider, so what?

My boss is from Australia and I remember him telling me about how he had a huge huntsman spider in his bedroom for years. He considered it usefull because it ate any other insects that happened to wander in. His attitude to poisonous spiders is to leave them alone.

They are considered in the top 10 most dangerous spiders in Australia, not because of bites, but because of the number of people who have hysterics and crash their car when one drops down from behind the sunvisor.

A bit like death from electric shock.

Possibly more folk die from the fall when they jump off whatever they stood on to dick-about with the electrickery. Rolling Eyes

Only one sub-species of False Widow spider is at all dangerous to humans and you've got to poke them with a stick before they'll even think about biting you.

False Widows have shiny non-furry looking legs that have a sort of "fluidy, liquidy color to them - the legs sort of look poisonous. The only place I've seen them around my home is hiding in deep recesses. Leave them alone and they won't come anywhere near you, they won't even wander a few inches away from their webs.

Yeah you're near me, loads of the things in our area apparently. We had one in the basement of the bar I work in.. Didn't bother killing it though just left it be.

"My wife found a False Widow in the bath last night" I told Imran at work today.

"What's that then?" he asked.

"A big white tub we sit in to wash ourselves" I replied.
