Hi all,

My chain snapped on the pentonville road this evening, by the time the flatbed arrived (2 hours later) the best option was to have it and me taken home.

I need to get it transported from west london to east where my chain and sprocket set awaits, anyone know if they would transport the bike again for the same reason or would i have to tell porkie pies?

Cheers

RAC's T&C's: State they do not cover "A second assistance if the original fault has not been properly repaired by a third party or if We
have advised You that it is a temporary repair."

Hrmmm

Also, they won't attend a call out within a few hundred metres of your house, unless you have the home-start option. So, you would probably have to push it pretty far down road before you call them...

Now, how do they know it's the same chain that snapped? You just put on a spare chain you had right, been riding around fine this last couple of days. But it seems like you spare is bit duff too...

remove/cut the live ignition feed to your CDI somewhere deep in the loom. your bike won't run and they won't be able to fix it.

There will be no other damage, but they'll transport it Smile

I would advise against cutting wires in your loom unless you are confident in what you're doing. Neutral

It seems like a good reason to learn and replace it yourself.

Why don't you wheel the bike over to Shepherd's Bush instead and get your C&S fitted there? Reg Orpin perhaps?

Yeah - I'll agree with that - but in principal - not a bad idea, eh?!

Simply unplug ecu.

Say you were riding, the light came on and you pulled over. It stopped.

Wai, wai, wai wait.

Isn't the bike still without a chain? A missing chain for which the RAC were called out for a few days earlier.

I am fairly sure they could diagnose a missing chain quite quickly should they be called out again.

His split link that he used to fix the chain has now broken as the bike had too much power... Wink

1) You should have you biker status revoked until repairs are completed. (You're not a biker when on the bus/train.)

2) Y no chain maintenance?

Razz

How would they plug it back in when you won't let them try to repair it, you want to get home now, you've waited for ages, you are cold. You'll pay a garage to fix it, not some roadside chump Thumbs Up

Personally I wouldn't risk calling out RAC so close, the only reason I'm saying this is you only get 3 pick ups a year. If you go over that then you have to pay for more.

Depends. My dad gets ~6 free call outs outside of the 5 mile radius and all free within that.

Luckily, I break down close to home.
