Just ordered some R&G heated grips.

Gotta fit them this weekend.

Cue the disaster!!!

I want them to be ignition controlled so understand I need a relay of some sort.

Bit reluctant to cut any wires!

If you are unsure:
The normal way to connect is to 'tee' into the tail light supply which on almost all bikes 6yrs old are normally 'ignition live' so if no key in the bike the power is off which save you running down the battery.
They still need a relay to power the grips but you simply connect the 'main power' to the + - posts of the battery.
So you will have main power 'circuit' to feed the grips (though a switch) which is an 'open circuit' until you turn on the ignition. The ignition powers the tail light which in turn energises the relay to close the relay and 'complete' the 'main circuit' to the grips. e viola, toasty hawns. (or not so toasty hawns if a multi-position switch).

Stinkers put a little skit together in workshop section that spells it all out for the un-informed/ham-fisted. Very Happy

Used stinkwheels guide...... Only had to sift through his 22,000 posts Wink

And this.
https://canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/heated-grips-alt.php

Both very good.

All worked okay.
Hairspray didn't work as a fixer but on my heated grips the 'core' is hard like plastic not soft rubber so hammered the left one on.... V tight and glued the right one with a general purpose time set glue.

R&G grips are warm as toast. Yippee!!
