Honda 'Jailing'
Lobes look to be at 90 deg on the shaft so I think still for 180 crank motor; So probably be the same one that Riders are flogging; TD-J Spec.
They clocked one up for me & confirm its the same 'lift' as the 'Reduced-Effect' spec cam; so definitely NOT a 'Full-Power' cam, that is a 'high-lift' profile with an extra 0.5mm of cam lift... or about an extra 10%... cam lift is 5.5mm on the R-E cam, 6mm on the F-P.
So... £60 for that one (Coming from Hong-Kong)
Ryders are doing same thing, from inside UK, for £40 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390347193432?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1262wt_698)
OR...... we can try getting a some stockers reground to the profile of the genuine NOS 14100-399-305 I have.....
I could use two of them.
(One for Snowie's 'Pup' & one for 'my' Super-Dream; I'm LOATH to put possibly the very last 'known' virgin Full-Power profile cam into an actual engine; I think its value may be better preserved as a 'master' to get R-E cams copy ground from! & besides it cost me more than the last Super-Dream I got!)
You need one.
Smiler I know needs a new cam.... though I think he'd be best off with the Jailing one....
Reason he needs a new cam, is that it was rather 'scored' by the end of the rocker that snapped off
Would seem that slamming down three gears from 60, to pull into a lay-by, followed by reving the thing to the red line on the stand, to vidio what it sounds like, isn't 'healthy' for little super-dream engines!
Think there was comment by couple of others that would like to see what a 'full-power' Super-Dream has to offer; so maybe we ought to get some names and see what we can get done on a batch basis.
One think I am concerned about; esp having seen smilers scored cam, is that 0.5mm off the base circle of a reduced effect cam, to get the same lift as the full-power one, would I suspect almost certainly result in cutting through the case hardening.
Base circle is 22mm, to get an extra 0.5mm 'peak' on the radius then, would mean taking a full mm off the diameter.
so, four chances;
1/ 1.0 + off base circle of 'salvaged' camshaft to get the extra lift and re-profile; then re-hardened. Small base may make ramp angles rather sharp, and give rockers a hard time; while metal off the cam would open up the tappet clerance, so further attention there may be required.
2/ Build; Harden & Grind; Cam lobe / bearing journals built up with weld; rough-ground 'close' to profile; hardened & then finish grind. To F-P profile; would salvage old cam to exact spec of new F-P. & probably the 'best' way to go.
3/ Get brand new cams cut & ground from billet to F-P Spec.
4/ hope that the NOS -305 cam I bagged before Christmas after two years of looking ISN'T the very last one, and that 'some-one' finds a stash of them, and punts them out at a more realistic price than the £200 ish the Euro-Destributors that list them, (but dont have them) suggest!
I haven't investigated any of these option's further as yet; we haven't been anywhere near building Snowie's engine; just been collecting 'bits'.... do have CD200 back now though for the barrels.
My first port of call, is "Cylinder Re-bores"; engine re-conditioners I use for, well, re-bores & 'stuff'! Mentioned the Benley barrels to them, & they reckoned they could take them out from 53mm to 55.5 to fit CB200 slugs, but they haven't seen the bits yet & we don't have pistons.... though you do don't you?
Can you tell me:-
1) What is the Gudgeon diameter? (Does the slug fit CB125 con-rod?)
2) What is the Gudgeon to crown distance? (Is it going to give the same 'deck-height' as the CB125 slug?)
3) What is the skirt length (from crown)
CB125 has same crank throw as the CB200, but I dont know if it has the same con-rods.... (parts listings dont offer them as individual component; only part of built up crank assembly) ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
